(Sky's POV)
After the ceremony had finished, I was ushered quickly onto a train. This train would take me to the capital city, which is where the Hunger Games would be played.
The train conductor had shown me to my sleeping car, and after checking that I had everything I needed, he left me alone. I walked over to the bed, sat down, and sighed angrily.
"I can't believe it, I was so close to never having to worry about these stupid games, and now I'm probably going to die for them!" I yelled. Grabbing my pillow, I flung it across the train car, and it hit the sliding door with a soft thud. I put my head in my hands.
I didn't lift my head from my hands until I heard the sound of a door sliding open. Looking up, I realized that another kid that looked to be maybe 2-3 years younger than me had decided to pay me a visit.
"Uh.... Hey." The kid said shyly, holding out his hand to me. I glanced at him, and then shook his hand quickly.
"Hey yourself. What are you doing in my car? Aren't we suppose to be, like, enemies?" I asked the kid. He shrugged.
"I don't know. I just heard you yelling in here, and I thought that maybe I could help. I'm Ty by the way." He said, plastering a small smile on his face. I looked at him head to toe. He was smaller than most kids around his age, and he wore a green set of headphones on top of his emo haircut. His outfit consisted of a simple white t-shirt and tan jacket that looked a lot like mine, and gray jeans. He had black shoes with maroon laces, which matched his eye color to a tee.
"I'm Adam, but call me Sky." I said, motioning him to sit down next to me. He sat down, and looked at me. He looked at me from head to toe, and squinted his eyes.
"Um... Everything ok there?" I asked. Ty seemed to jump out of his little trance, and he shook his head.
"Sorry Sky, it's just.... You look so familiar. Are you sure we haven't met somewhere before?" He asked. Now that I looked at him again, he was right. He seemed familiar too, but I could place a name on where we could've met.
"Huh, maybe from a trading run or something." I offered, and Ty shrugged.
"Well anyways, it's nice to meet you. Even though we're gonna have to fight eachother in these games, I'm glad I got to at least meet someone. You know, while not in a fight-to-the-death mindset." He said, chuckling. I nodded.
"Well you know, what if we teamed up? It would increase our chances of survival, and we could get to know eachother better." I said suddenly. Ty looked at me, a smile on his face.
"I really like that idea Sky. As long as it's cool with you, I'll team with you." He said happily. I nodded, grinning.
"So anyways Sky, what district are you from?" Ty then asked, getting off the bed and walking over to the fridge. He pulled out 2 sodas, and tossed one of them to me. He opened his with a crisp crack, and leaned his head back to take a gulp of it. He then set it down on a nearby table, and looked at me, waiting for an answer.
"I'm from District 5." I said, cracking open my own soda can. Taking a drink, my eyes opened at the sugary sweetness of the drink. Ty giggled.
"I should've expected a reaction like that from a District 5 member. When was the last time your district won a hunger games?" He asked, and I shrugged.
"Which district are you from Ty?" I then asked, taking a drink of soda.
"Born and raised in district 8." He said proudly. I nodded.
"I'm guessing your pretty skilled with melee attacking then?" I questioned, and he nodded.
"Best in the town." He smirked.
