(Sky's POV)
I woke up, sore and still sleepy. Clearing the sleep from my eyes, I couldn't remember where I was. Looking around, I looked at the wasteland and realized I was still in the Games. Scrambling up, I quickly looked around. No one was in sight. Sighing, I climbed down the tree, and quickly ate some rotten flesh from the ground. It tasted worse than death, but I knew I had to eat something to keep up my strength.
"Ok Sky, what are we gonna do." I asked myself, scanning the ground. I began walking through a dense grove of trees, when I heard a scream. Running towards the sound, I ended up by a river. The river was murky and had the bodies of dead fish surrounding it. Scanning the bank, I noticed something in a nearby patch of bushes.
Oh Notch, please don't let it be...
I pulled away at the leaves of the branches and gasped.
Laying in the bushes was a dead body. A large gash was hastily marked on his neck, and an impossible amount of blood surrounded his body and the river. He wasn't very tall, and had on a tux and sunglasses, as well as dark brown hair. He looked oddly familiar, and I felt a pang of sorrow, even though I didn't know this dude. A rocket shot off into the sky, and I jumped. Looking up, I realized the face of the man I just found was being projected, with a large "X" crossed over his face. Underneath the picture, his name was written in large letters.
Ian Stapleton (Ssundee)
I read the name, and look down at the man again. I suddenly had this weird feeling that I had known this guy before. I shook my head, trying to clear the feeling.
"What am I suppose to do with the body?" I muttered to myself, and suddenly a snowman dude appeared, almost out of thin air. I jumped back in surprise.
"Don't scare me like that you jerk!" I yelled. The snowman didn't even blink.
"Remember, collect the pieces and you could be free!" Is all the Snowman said before disappearing again.
"Wait! What do you mean?!" I asked, but the snowman was already long gone. I looked down at the corpse, and then noticed a small, blinking light coming out of the man's sleeve. Rolling it up, I saw a barcode flashing on his skin. That's when I remembered what the announcer said at the beginning of the games.
Every player has a piece of the easter egg stored in a special watch that was implemented into your skin last night while you were asleep, and if/when you kill that player, you can scan the watch on their arm and claim the pieces that they have discovered. If you happen to discover all of the pieces of the easter egg, then the game is over and you will be declared the victor!
Victor...I have never loved the sound of a word more.
I quickly crouched down, and pulled up my sleeve. I clicked a small button that I could feel under my skin, and it instantly began scanning the code on the man, I mean, Ian's arm. The scanner made a beeping sound, and the code on his arm disappeared. A file was then projected from my watch, and I was able to open the portion of the Easter egg he had. It didn't seem to have a lot of useful information, except for the very last line listed, where all it said was Youtuber.
I didn't know what a Youtuber was, but it seemed important. I made note of that information, and then closed the file.
"Well, I guess I shouldn't drink this water." I said, looking into the still-bloody stream. I glanced down at Ian, and a pang of guilt hit me. Without thinking, I grabbed him by the wrists and dragged the body under a tree.
Even though he's dead, I don't think anybody would want their corpse just sinking in a stream.
I then began to walk away, in search of water or any other people. I realized as I was walking however, that there was something wrong with that death.
If I had found him and there was still blood flowing, then that means that he was killed only recently. Which means, there is still someone nearby.
I quickly looked around. I didn't see any players through the dead grasses or rotting oaks. Keeping my guard up, I kept walking. Then I heard something. It sounded like a hungry stomach, along with the sound of grunting.
Not following my better judgement, I began to follow the sound. It led me into the rotten oaks, and in the middle of the logs, there was a large clearing. In the middle there was a pack of angry-looking, mutant wolves, who were advancing on a boy a little smaller than me. The boy must've noticed my presence, because he looked my way. Unfortunately, the wolves followed the boy's line of sight, and they became fixed on me.
Well...shoot.
