Alice's POV~

Please, no more worlds...

I want to go home!

I want to see Matthew, and my kids!

They probably miss me, if they even know that I left in the first place.

Where am I now?

The world around me was dark, darker than black pitch. There was no difference between opening and closing my eyes. I raised my arms slowly, trying to feel if there was something nearby. I could feel and smell my breath rebounding off of something to hit me in the face, so that told me there was something just above me.

Tunk

Yup, the backs of my hands were tapping against something solid. Smooth, too. What was it?

One hand wandered to my stomach while the other explored my surroundings. I was calm about this, too. If I was in danger, I needed a level head.

I was clad in some sort of dress, I think! My feet were bare, too, and I could kick up softly to feel that the thing above me covered me from head to toe. This box had sides to it, and I was lying stiffly because of them. A pillow rested beneath my head, and just then I realized that a strong earthy smell was wafting to my nostrils.

It didn't take long to piece together all the clues.

I was buried in a coffin, six feet underground!

Well, I assumed it was six feet. That's how it usually is.

My heart rate was picking up, was I suffocating? Oh god oh god oh god HOLY SHEET! I have to get out of here! Now!

'Alice, calm the frig down!' a sensible voice yelled at me, sounding a lot like my husband. 'Take slow, even breaths. Test your muscles, gather your strength and magic. If you can break the lid of the coffin and dig upward through the dirt, you can reach the surface. Use your super-strength and whatever magic you have to help you. You can do this!'

There was a whispery tingle under my skin, a benign light blue presence. 'France's magic--?' I thought, lifting my hand and barely grazing the underside of the lid. 'I can use a short, quick blast of it to break the lid and help give me a boost! Thanks for this, France.'

With a small smile, I began to mentally prepare myself for this feat. I would have to use my strength to dig straight up as fast as I could manage, without taking a breath or suffocating. If I asphyxiated, that would be the end of me. I'd ironically die in my own grave.

'I can't think like that, I'll jinx myself before I even begin' I scolded myself. 'Come on, happy thoughts. Happy thoughts!'

The light gathered in my palms, which I cupped together to build up pressure.

And then I realized just how stupid I was being.

'I can't blast the entire lid off! Then the dirt would crush me despite anything at all!' A cold sweat was beginning to break out on my hairline, matting the strands to my forehead. The air in here was getting harder to breathe because I was using it up. But I had to be smart and clever about this. I'd heard about ways to bust out of coffins underground before, right?

Oh gosh... This was going to suck.

Omniscient POV~

"Haaa... Aren't-a we there yet?" Romulus complained from his place in the passenger's seat.

Dietrich, also known as Germania, glared through the front windshield as he drove. Multiple irk marks had appeared on his forehead long ago and they had no intention of leaving at this rate.
