When my mom picked me up from Alex's, there was a lot of snow on the ground and it was still lightly snowing. It's the middle of January, and 36 degrees outside. Luckily Alex's hoodie was keeping me warm. Cake by the ocean by DNCE was playing on the radio at a low volume.
"So I see you managed to snatch a hoodie, good job honey." I laughed at her.
"Thanks mom." We smiled at each other and she continued.
"So what's this Alex like?" I looked down to my hands laying in my lap and started playing with the oversized sleeves.
"Well he's really nice and caring. He's really gentle with everything and is always smiling. He's kinda like me uhm. He jokes a lot and overall a really genuine person. He's also super duper talented." I could tell my mom kept transitioning from looking at the road to me.
"I'd really like to meet him." My head snapped up.
"Mom I literally just met him yesterday."
"Yeah I know but it doesn't sound like it. By the way, the school district emailed me and said that if the snow doesn't melt then there won't be any school tomorrow. Everything will be finalized in the morning since the rode's are still pretty icy." I cheered. I could stay home and sleep all day.
We got home and I went up to my room to change. I put on some sweatpants and some fluffy slippers to go back downstairs. I started the tea kettle and grabbed a packet of hot chocolate, and poured the powder into a mug. Then I went on Instagram until the water was hot and I poured it into the same mug. Next I went back upstairs with my hot chocolate and my phone in my hands and slid into my bed. I started watching the next episode of once upon a time and put my glasses on. I only have them for reading but I like to wear them when I watch tv as well. I can do both without my glasses but I just prefer to wear them. Once I finished my hot chocolate I went to go brush my teeth and wash my face. I planned on watching 2 more episodes after that. In the middle of the second one, I closed my laptop and placed it on the floor, falling into a deep sleep.
*The next morning*
I woke up to my alarm playing Grown by little mix and I opened up my eyes. I slid my finger across the screen, having my eyes meet with my passcode and the music stopped. I went on all my social media and once I was done, I got out of bed and went to my window. There was so much snow I could barely even see any cars. I squealed and jumped back into my bed. After being half asleep, my phone starts ringing my ring tone and I groan. I answered it being unaware of everything going on. I was met with Gabys face and she smiled at me.
"Hey I'm gonna invite everyone over today to hang out since there's obviously no school, so do you wanna come over to mine?" She asked.
"Yeah that'd be really fun. Lemme ask my mom and text me ur address." She nodded and we exchanged goodbyes. I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen where my mom was. As I approached, she was getting a bagel out of the toaster oven.
"Hey honey. There's no school but I still have to go to work. Jaxon is going to one of his friends later so are you gonna be ok here by yourself?" She got out the whipped cream cheese and spread it on the bagel.
"Actually I was wondering if I could go to Gabys?" She looked at me and nodded.
"That works out perfectly. Are you spending the night? I doubt you guys are gonna go to school tomorrow." I thought about it.
