~Chapter Six~

The next day I was officially starting my new job, my work schedule was pretty simple and I was quite happy with it. It gave me time to to sleep, eat, and do my leisurely activites. I started work at 9 am and end my shift at 5 pm. Giving me days off at Saturday and Sundays off, it relieved me knowing I had time to rest. I loved my me time it was therapeutic in a way. Thinking about things just to myself helped me be more open minded.

"Hey kiddo? You gon tell me what you want for breakfast or just sit there?" Gerald asked waving his hand around my face.

"Oh! Sorry.. I was just thinking about money, and apartments.. And yea.. I would like pancakes please?" I asked awkwardly rambling.

"Coming right up." He chuckled.

As he left the room I stood up from my bed and walked to the bathroom to freshen up a little bit before I get to work. Packing my bag I put a notepad and a pencil since I'm predicting there will be plenty of brainstorming and writing today. I was literally jumping from room to room I didn't even see Serena walking by. Causing us to crash apart. "Jesus Liyah, what's gotten into you?" she laughed as she helped me off the ground.

"I'm just super excited for today," I smiled at her.

"And why is that?"

"Oh.. Umm.. Cause its my first full time job!! Durr," I decided not telling her about Josh cause then she'll start nagging me about going out with him. And I just don't need that right now. "Okayy then, just be careful next time speedy." She shook her head as she headed downstairs. I was gonna go back to get myself ready a bit, but was distracted when my phone vibrated in my pocket.

Looking down I got a text from Josh;

'Gotchu your fav frappe ;)'

A smiled tugged on my lips as I read the message, I quickly shrugged it off. Replying back;

'Thanks, but you didn't have to. :)'

Within seconds my phone went off;

'It's my pleasure'

Rolling my eyes I stuffed my phone back in my pocket and decided to finally get ready for the day. I grabbed my blue blazer and quickly put it on as i watched the clock move into 9:10 am. Cursing under my breath i took my bag and ran down the stairs.

"Good morning and good bye!!" I greeted as I scrambled to find the front door. "No breakfast today?" Serena yelled from the kitchen. "I'm running late!" I spoke, quickly slipping my flats on.

"Good morning shithead," I greeted as I walked into the studio seeing Josh. "Morning asshole," he groaned back. "Where is Cam?" Setting my bag down on the black swivel chair that was perched randomly about the unorganized room. Josh looked up from his phone, I jumped from the bags that formed under his eyes and the scruff that was growing.

"Holy shit you actually look like crap today? What happened?" I blurted out loudly. Rolling his eyes he grumbled something that I couldn't comprehend before answering; "I just didn't get that much sleep last night," he stretched out his limbs. "Hm.. Are you able to brainstorm with me or do i have to do everything today?" I questioned as I took my note pad and pencil out and ready.

"I don't knooww," he whined, raising my eyebrows I shrugged then pulled my phone out to call Cam.

The phone rang a couple times before I heard a low raspy voice answer, he sounded like shit. "Cam where are you at?" I asked, leaning back into the cushioned chair. "Sorry, i'm taking a sick day today," he coughed through the phone. Jeez he sounded like a dying whale. "Oh.. Well.. Uh okay, hope you feel better soon! Very soon," I muttered the last part then ended the call. I sighed and rubbed my face. What was I supposed to do now?? Sit in a room with grumpy josh for the next 8 hours.

"What's up?!" Josh's voice rang interrupting my thoughts. "Oh.. Umm, he's sick," I mumbled stuffing my phone back into my pocket. "Ughhhhh," Josh whined longingly. "Okay, well lets just try and write a song okay? Brainstorm some ideas?," I spoke crossing my fingers, hoping that he'd be flexible with me today. "Okay sure whatever," he muttered, I released a breath I didn't know I was holding and nodded. "Okay let's start off with what type of song we want to write," I said as I sat down in front of him taking my pencil out and I opened up to the first blank page I could find.

"Wait, whats the other pages filled with?" He said getting distracted while I was flipping through my journal. "Oh, it's just a bunch of stupid songs I wrote.. But they aren't good so le-" before i could finish my sentence he interrupted me, like always. "I wanna see it," he said his hand out expecting me to just hand him my journal over that was full of emotion. "What?! No!," I quickly retreated, hugging my journal against my chest.

"C'mon! They might be good let me see," his raspy voice spoke, his hand shaking desperately. Rolling my eyes and sighing for what feels like the millionth time, I gave in. I slowly handed my book to him. He quickly snatched it before I could change my mind and opened it to the first page. I laid back into the chair crossing my arms. "I'm telling you they su-" once again he interrupted me. "This one is amazing! Have you thought on how it would sound??" He said seeing his face brighten up which I thought would've been impossible from the state he was in.

"N-no?" I said sounding more like a question, he nodded and stood up quickly making me jump at his sudden action. He made his way towards the sound system thingy, i'm not really sure what they were called. I was just the writer anyways. He started playing around with the different beats until he came across a soft beat that was perfect for the song. We both looked at eachother with wide eyes, smiling I nodded vigorously as he chuckled.

I guess working with Josh alone today, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
