"Okay, I think he's asleep." Antoine finally broke the silence which the both of us needed to get Luca to fall asleep, which had seemed practically everlasting. "Now let's leave the room before we wake him up."

I rolled y eyes a little before speaking. "Hold on a second, Antoine. Look at how cute he is—I have to take a photo."

"Fine, fine. Just hurry." Antoine moved aside, allowing me to bend at an awkward position as I snapped a photo of his son in order to post it on Instagram, then turned my phone off as my notifications began to explode.

Antoine rose his eyebrows at me and spoke. "All good?"

"Yes. Are you sure you aren't still mad at me, Antoine?"

"Yes, I'm sure. I was never mad, anyways." Antoine plastered a smile on his lips.

"Antoine, I don't want you to lie to me. If there's an issue, we should—"

"There is no issue." Antoine avoided eye contact with me before he looked back down at Luca. "I don't want you to fail the assignment, and I know that Julian is much smarter than me, anyways. In a sense, if it weren't for Julian, we wouldn't even be here. So, really, I appreciate him." Antoine was back to smiling.

"Right." I muttered, looking down at my nails. I remembered that day clearly—I wanted a book from Julian, while Antoine wanted an entire essay written.

"Speaking of Julian," Antoine stood up. "Are you going to go meet with him, or not?"

The German and I had discussed meeting at a Starbucks in the city to finish our project, but I didn't know if it was such a great idea after Antoine's reaction to seeing us work on it last time. However when I asked Antoine, he seemed fine with it—eager, even—for me to go, and that was what concerned me.

"I guess I will go." I spoke, standing up. "But in that case, I have to go now. What are you going to be up to today?"

"Well, I was going to go meet with my Spanish teacher to—"

"Spanish teacher?"

Antoine sighed. "Elliott, I have to do this."

"Can't you just learn Spanish when you get there?" I felt my face falling. "Do you have to prepare so...early?"

"Yes, I do. My agent hired someone and I don't really have a choice. Besides, she'll be here in—"
