Peter woke up in the middle of the night with a start frightened by the thought. He glanced around the room to check if everyone was sleeping. James was mumbling happily in his bunk about Lily. Sirius was on the ground as he had fallen off his bed. Remus was smiling, eyes closed.
He sighed carelessly and looked under his bed for his stash of candy. He sighed again as his candy was all there. He counted all of them again. 1...3...15...22...50...99 and...100? Wait where's the hundredth candy. Peter jumped a foot in the air screaming at the top of his lungs. His last candy was gone. James snorted awake and sighed that Lily was replaced by fat child running and farting that his candy was gone. Sirius jumped up and yelled that Remus was trying to kill him. Remus simply woke up. Peter yelled at all of them to find the candy. Sirius pulled off his night cap and a small candy fell out.
"Sirius, you stole my candy," Peter gasped.
"No, I didn't" Sirius muttered pulling at his pink hair.
"Give it back, Sirius"
"I refuse"
"Why."
"Because, little Peter, I am a gentleman."
"That makes no sense."
"I know." Sirius said as the candy flew off and landed in Peter's hand.
"Sirius I know Accio,"
"Damn," Sirius said. Remus frowned as the candy he left for Sirius was in Peter's hand. Peter popped it in his mouth and ate it.
"Qu'est-ce que vous faisiez avec mon bonbon![What on earth are you doing with my candy!]" Peter shouted in French.
"Don't worry, lads," Remus consoled, "I speak French!" Peter's eyes flooded with relief.
"Remus, tu dois me aider [Remus, you have to help me]," Peter insisted. Remus pretended to nod, understandingly.
"What's he saying, Reme?" Sirius asked, curiously.
"He says your eyes look fantastic, Sirius," Remus said. Peter garbled angrily in French. "Absolutely, spiffing he says." Sirius blushed but smiled nevertheless. James giggled quietly to himself.
Earlier that very same day...
As James, Peter, and Sirius walked down to breakfast Remus was singing the Mission Impossible theme song in his head. He must have had a strange look on his face because James stopped to ask if he was alright. And Remus saw the perfect opportunity to complete his mission.
"No, actually, I'm feeling a little ill," Remus frowned. Sirius leaned toward Remus to check his temperature with the back of his hand, obviously making Remus flush a red color, making his face warmer than it needed to be.
"I just gonna run up to the dorm for some painkillers," Remus clarified, "I'll be fine, I promise." He turned on his heel and walked in the direction they came from. Well, that went swimmingly, Remus thought sarcastically. He was pretty sure that his red face could be seen from space.
Once he was back up at the dorms, Remus started looking frantically for Peter's candy stash slipped a bottle of Muggle painkiller into his pocket, in case anyone asked.
"Accio, Peter's massive stash of candy that everybody eats from because it's really not a secret anymore and those Muggle gummy worms ar-" Remus ranted on until the aforementioned stash of candy came sailed out from under Peter's bed and smashed the side of Remus's head. Oh, great now I have a real headache, Remus thought, but, hey, at least he had accomplished his mission. Before he could endure any more bodily injury, Remus hurried out of the dorm to meet Lily in the kitchen with the candy bag in his robe pocket.
After Remus decided to have some fun by pretending to be James Bond by jumping around with his hands in a gun shape. And finally when he arrived at the kitchen, Lily was already there tapping her foot impatiently.
"How much to that did you see, exactly...?" Remus asked meekly. Lily raised her eyebrow.
"I saw enough," Lily snapped. She grabbed the candy from Remus and turned to the painting of the fruit basket. She tickled the pear in the painting. As soon as they stepped into they were flooded with greetings from the house elves.
"Sir Remus!" shouted a particularly enthusiastic elf by the name of Lula. She was Remus's favorite because she supplied him with chocolate during his weeks spent in the Hospital Wing.
"Hi, Lula!" He greeted her, "can you help us out with a little joke we are playing on our friend." Lily approached Lula as well.
"Can you charm these so that the person that ate them can not speak English?" Lily asked kindly, remembering what Marlene told her earlier that day.
"Yes, of course, Miss Lily," Lula said as she nodded and took at candy into a back room. While she was gone Remus continued to sing the Mission Impossible theme song out loud. Lily let it continue for a few minutes until she had had enough.
"Remus!" Lily sighed, exasperated with his childish antics. Remus didn't have time to answer because Lula returned with their bag of candy. The pair of pranksters thanked Lula profusely and turned to leave but Remus walked into a crate of broccoli.
"Good," Remus whispered as he stepped over the mess he made and exiting the hole in the wall with Lily following him like a mother following her sugar- high toddler
