When he kissed her again, it was much more passionate and hard. It was difficult for Jess to resist, so she gave in to Ashton's kiss. She had expected the kiss to be wet, but in reality, it was dry and perfect. The two of them had begun to French kiss, which of course did get a little 'spitty' but Jess just assumed that all make out sessions were that way.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Ashton pulled away from the kiss and asked quietly, obviously unsure what her reply would be. Hating herself for losing her voice, Jess went to grab her markers and whiteboard again, but realized that she could just nod instead. She violently shook her head up and down, indicating that she was absolutely positive of what she wanted, and this was it. All she wanted was to discover Ashton, everything about him, what his deepest secrets were, what he wanted for Christmas, his physical wants and needs, all of it.
After a while, Jess couldn't take it anymore. She'd had enough of the physical contact, and they were pretty close to stripping, which was apparently against hospital policy, so she slowly eased away from Ashton, their lips making a faint clicking noise as they disconnected. "What's wrong?" His face was colored with concern and a slight trace of regret. Jess looked down and slowly moved her head from left to right and back again. He handed her the whiteboard and a plain black marker, uncapping it to release a stench that Jess had always associated with classrooms. She wrinkled her nose at the foul odor, but took the board and utensil regardless.
Can we just talk for a little while?
"As you wish." was all he said, and that was all that was needed. Jess' eyes began to tear with joy. He brought her in to one of his bear hugs that enveloped her in his warmth and faint scent of axe that he applied that morning. Jess thought back and realized that she and Tony hadn't spoken since the horrifying scene earlier that day. She simply shrugged off the memory and looked back to Ashton for comfort.
Then, as if God was playing a horrible trick on her, Tony stumbled intothe room, his face lit up like a Christmas tree as if a life changing thought had just run through his head, and he had to share it with the world. His face dropped when he saw Jess in Ashton's arms, and he took a couple steps backwards. Slowly, tears began to well up in his eyes, shock and pain were clear on his face. Tony tightened his jaw, and Ashton clenched his, each giving the other a hard stare.
"What are you doing here, Anthony?" Ash said through clenched teeth.
"Get out, Carlton. I want to talk to Jessica alone."
"Her name is Jess, and she's my girlfriend, so whatever you want to say to her, you can say in front of me."
"Right. Well, you need to leave anyway. I have to tell her something and I don't want to say it in front of you. You'll laugh at me, or hurt me, and I don't need that. So please, just get out!" When he finished, Tony's voice was raised to a yell.
Jess grabbed her markers, and decided on a blood red color, feeling like that would have the most impact on Ashton.
I'll be okay. Just let him tell me what he needs to say, I have my nurse's button if I need any help.
"Okay. But I'll give you 5 minutes. That's it."
"Thank you." was all Tony could say to his former friend.
