Summary: In a dystopian future, the world's land is comprised of mainly desert land after water began to run dry over 150 years ago. A series of world wars, known as the Water Wars, in which nations destroyed each other for water, led a new government known as the United Solutions to take control of the planet. Security rests in the hands of the Council, a group of mindless men who hold their government above all else. A rebel group named the Drains is trying to rise against them.
Maria Wayne, is forcing herself into an ordinary life after many years of being controlled by her mother. Her family is racked with Councilmen, including her brother who wishes to take out the Drains once and for all. Maria soon discovers the Council's secrets, and she forced into a life in which she has to turn against everything she is accustomed to for people she doesn't know or understand. For Maria, life depends on her ability to drain the desert...
