5th Chapter

Donna's POV

The kiss lasted for a few seconds before I broke it off. There was a few seconds of silence then I said something cause I couldn't stand the awkwardness.

"uhh...I'm sorry Harvey, I have to leave"

he looked a little bit confused and disappointed but he also had a "I knew why she wanted to leave" face, so I ignored it and walked out the door.

In the car, I was thinking "why wasn't I overjoyed that he kissed me?" I love him and I guess he likes me too but there are thoughts that I couldn't get rid off,

"Did he kiss me because he was caught up in the moment?"

"Did the kiss mean that he wanted us to be in a relationship?''

"or did it mean that he likes but he knows that we can't be together, so I might as well just kiss her and let that be a one time thing."

I had all kinds of thoughts going on in my mind, so I decided to leave before it got more awkward.

Harvey's POV

All I did was sigh and sigh and.... sigh. I let out a bittersweet smile because I didn't know what to think.

"Why did she leave?"

Some parts of me was depressed because it felt like I was dumped, when in fact nothing even happened yet, but there are some parts of me that knows we can't be together. From the promise that we made 10 years ago and to the fact that we work in the same place and are colleagues. That's why some parts of me was quite glad that she left before it escalated to more things happening.

I couldn't think anymore so I went straight to bed.

THE NEXT MORNING

Donna's POV

'Ughhhhh... do I really have to go to work today? Thinking about all the stuff that happened yesterday, I was dreading to go to work. I don't think I could see his face today, let alone talk to him.

"Ring, Ring, Ring"

When I saw who called, I was shocked.

"Donna, where are you?" Harvey's voice suddenly came up.

I was trying to sound normal and I definitely didn't. Instead, I stuttered all the way.

"uh a-at h-home w-why?"

"Well can u go to the office though? I need some meetings lined up with my client"

Harvey sounded oddly normal.

"u-uh s-su-sure, I'm l-leaving in 10 minutes"

''Ok, bye"

I was confused. What did he mean by all this? is he trying to sound normal so it wasn't awkward, or he did want that kiss or whatever to be a one time thing. Anyways, whatever it was, I was pissed by then.

When I arrived, I went to his office feeling annoyed. I didn't care about anything.

"Hey, morning, what meetings you needed lined up?" I made sure that I would sound cranky.

"Yeah, can you set up meetings with Mr. Hannigan at noon tell him it's about the contract that he was asking me about and set another one with Mr. Bryan.

That's all he said. That's it. He didn't say Hi back and he barely looked at me in the eyes. He was focused to his computer screen instead.

I was done. If he wanted to forget about last night, it's forgotten.

We went through the day normally, like nothing happened. We only talked about business stuff and barely chatted with each other.

Harvey's POV

ahh.. shit, I hope I sounded normal enough talking to her today. I decided that we can't be together, that's why I have to act normal around her though it's driving me crazy. All I want to do is hug her and kiss her...

*KNOCK ON GLASS DOOR

"Hi, may I ask you where is Donna Paulsen if you know?"

"Who are you?"

"Oh, sorry, I'm David. Nice to meet you." He smiled.

"Yeah. Why are you looking for Donna?"

"Oh I'm bringing her for dinner today" He smiled again. I wanted to punch him already.

"What?" I mumbled so he couldn't hear me.

"Hey! David sorry I was in the bathroom, let's go?"

"Hi Donna, oh yeah sure we should go. I've already made a reservation at the restaurant."

I was starting to get annoyed.

"Ohh okay good! See you tomorrow Harvey" She said to my face.

It's the first time I saw her face clearly today, she was beautiful...but she was leaving with another man.

They were holding hands and before she walked away, she smiled at me again but I couldn't do anything. All I could think of was that David guy, it felt like he was stealing Donna away.

It broke my heart.
