Day and night, like a metal detector, the voices would slowly get louder as I approached certain people. "There. THEre. THERE!" Someone stopped to say hello to me. She bent down to my level, her golden-brown eyes seemed to stare right into my soul.

"Hello there! What's your name?" She spoke with a light tone. The voices hated that type of tone most. They only spoke in dark, raspy whispers. I already hated this woman.

"Hello? Is anyone home?" She giggled playfully and jokingly knocked on my head. This made the voices mad. I didn't like it when the voices got mad, they made my head hurt.

"I'd like it if you would stop," I said, nearly monotone. But this just made the woman laugh a little more, she didn't stop knocking. My head burst with voices yelling at me to make her stop.

"Please just STOP!" The woman immediately stopped.

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't know that I was hurting you." She blushed, redder than most. The voices made me become her friend. I didn't want to, but if the voices wanted it, I would do it.

"It's not your fault, I'm just having a really uh—bad day today..."

"Oh, I can help you if you would like. Say, what's a child your age wandering around without an adult?"

"My parents are at work, I'm supposed to be at school, but I escaped." I could already see by the expression on her face that she was pitying me.

"It's nearly as bad as Hell, isn't it?" I nodded. My life is already Hell, why do I need to add more unnecessary things to it?

"Why don't you come with me to my place? You can hide out there until you need to get home." I'm actually beginning to like this woman, however, the voices told me not to get attached.
