ANSWER: Try to show them the light.

EXPLANATION:

"Jesus answered him, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God'" (John 3:3).

They may not actually be Christians, but they may claim it. If this is the case, then you can't expect a lost person to act saved. You should try to lead them to see the light of Jesus. This was actually the case for me, I thought I was a Christian at first, but then I realized I wasn't one summer. Then, I truly gave my heart to Christ, and I knew in my heart and mind that I was a Christian. These people may think they are, but not actually be Christians.

Some people, however, will say this to get you off their back or to show off. Apply the same tactic.

(FOLLOW-UP QUESTION: How should I approach them?)

You should approach them with a loving and understanding attitude, yet at the same time, staying firm in the faith. You don't want to be too pushy, but you don't want to be a push-over. Stand firm in the faith and in God's Word, and you should be fine in the confrontation.
