Chapter Three.
"Hey, no one knows that you're my sister. If anyone asks, Sophia is a friend of Dad's and he made me drive you to school." Logan said to me that morning, starting up the black Range Rover and pulling out of the drive. I nodded numbly, staring out of the window of the passenger seat.
"You'll have to change seats soon, Seth usually sits there. Unless my girlfriend bitches about it, then she sits there and he sits in the back." I roll my eyes, turning my head and starting at him. I watch as his blonde locks of hair blow in the wind, his ocean blue eyes glance over at me and he grins.
"I don't consider you my sister, Blaze. I know you're attracted to me and that's totally cool, but we should probably keep it a secret." He taunts, reaching over and resting his hand on my bare thigh. I scoff, pushing his hand away.
"You think you're so clever, when you're so stupid. Mom doesn't care about Mike, you're going to be left picking up his broken heart when she leaves him for a wealthier guy." Logan laughs, sparing me another glance as he turns left.
"I know, but it's his own fault." I furrow my eyebrows at him, wondering if he really meant it or not. Logan had grew distant to his father, ever since his mother, literally, drank herself to death when he was a pre-teen, but whether he really meant it or not was a mystery.
"Get out, Seth is coming." He says, before I could even open my mouth to reply to his previous comment. I pick up my backpack and throw it in the backseat as Seth walks up the Ranger Rover, a small scowl on his face.
"Blaze," Seth smiles, his round hazel eyes meeting mine. I nod to him, taking a step around him before he grabs my shoulders. "You can sit in the front, it's fine. I don't mind sitting in the back, it's not forever." Confused by what he meant, I quickly thanked him and sat back next to Logan.
"Dude, why are you being so nice to her?" Logan asks, turning his head over his shoulder and staring at his handsome best friend with utter confusion. Seth looks at me, a smile on his lips before he turns to look at the driver.
"She hasn't been at school for two months, can't a guy be nice?" Logan clicks his tongue, facing the front and starting the car. "Yeah, but nice isn't our style." Without another word, he drives to school, talking about his girlfriend.
As soon as Logan parks, I reach over for my bag and hurry into the school, ignoring everyone's stares as Seth calls my name. I hated being the centre of attention, it was awful. I hate people talking about me, staring at me in various ways and making rumours about me that weren't the slightest bit true.
I was alone the whole day, Kelly had decided it was the perfect day to come down with the flu. Besides Kelly, the only other friend that I had was a chess playing, computer freak called Harvey-who was cute in his own dorky way, he made me smile and he was like a nerdy brother that I've never had. But then again, he's like the only brother I ever had.
"Blaze, what's the deal with you and my boyfriend?" Abbie Miller stood by my locker at the end of the day, her red hair in a ponytail and her freckles scattered over her face. I scrunched my face up, reaching in for my backpack.
"Who's your boyfriend?" I ask, looking down at the textbook I needed for my homework. Abbie clears her throat, straightens her back and says with a steady voice, "Logan Jackson."
I turn to her, "Abbie, my mother is a friend of his father's, he was forced to drive me to school and drive me home. There's nothing going on, Logan isn't my type anyway."
"But, Logan is everyone's type." She said, following me when I started to walk to the parking lot. I shake my head, a small sigh leaving my lips. "I already have my eyes set on someone else, Abbie. Besides, he talked about you on the way here. It got annoying after a while."
"Really?" She asks, hopefully. As I nod, her face lights up and she squeals before running over to a Volvo and climbing inside. Logan is already waiting beside his car, twirling his car keys around his fingers and whistling as he waits. I didn't expect him too, I was surprised to see him waiting for me.
"Are you ready?" He asks, when he sees me approaching. I nod and climb in the passenger seat, glancing at him as he takes a breath and starts to car. He glanced over at me, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"Plug in your phone, music says a lot about the person who listens to it." I do as he says, playing my favourite song by Nirvana and he stops in the entrance of the lot.
"You like Nirvana?" He asks, looking over at me with a frown on his lips and his eyebrows furrowed. I lick my lips, nodding my head. "Is that a problem?"
Logan doesn't say anything, he just starts up his car and taps his fingers to the music the whole way home. He looked so relaxed, I had never seen him like that before and it was fascinating. It makes me wonder what else he was hiding.
