Chapter 2 : The Hug
***
Now you'd think that our principal would be a mean old woman, but she wasn't. She was about 30 years old, and was very beautiful with her raven black hair, emerald eyes, and tiny body. Almost all of the boot teachers drooled over her, even the married ones. Some of the boys even liked her and kept on getting in trouble just to see her. It was kind of pathetic, really. Sometimes I caught Josh staring at her, even though he only has eyes for Amy. Boys.
She came in and stopped in her tracks, an amused smile on her face. "What's going on here?" She asked, chuckling.
"N-nothing!" We all stuttered in unison. It's not that she's mean, it's just that all of us would be embarrassed telling her that we were laughing because of the people swooning over Narcissus. Who names their kid Narcissus, anyways?
She looked at us all any raised her eyebrows. "Really? Then why is everybody laughing?" Well, she had a point there. She continued, "Ms. Augustine, you must know why everyone is laughing. Would you like to tell me?" Ms. A visibly gulped, she didn't like to be in the spotlight as much as I'd like to be in a circus. Ugh, I hate clowns. Actually, hate isn't exactly there right word. I despise them, along with other things (as in, I'm actually scared poopless of them). Anyways, Ms. A said, "I-I...um..." she looked over at I'd and saw pleading eyes staring back at her. She cleared her throat and tried again, " It really was nothing, Principal Kate, we just looked at each other and started laughing. Sorry to cause such a ruckus." The principal looked at us lovingly, she acted as if all of the students and staff here were here kids and brothers and sisters, which we really loved about her. Right now though, she looked at us as of she figured out some secret joke and was hiding from everybody that she knew it. I think she figured it out.
She looked at Narcissus, "Oh, good. I'm glad you found your class. I'm sorry I couldn't bring you to it, I have just been informed that my brother, David, has been in a car crash and has died." We all gasped and had tears well up in our eyes. David had come to bust the school many times, usually helping out on the classrooms and tutoring kids. Everybody knew him and everybody loved. I just copying believe that he was dead. I looked at the principal more closely, and noticed that her eyes were slightly red and puffy.
I was the first one to go up and hug the principal. At first she tensed up, but gradually relaxed. After a few moments my friends got up and came to hug her too. The next thing you know is that we're all hugging Principal Kate, even the teacher. Narcissus looked at us awkwardly until we beckoned him over saying, "Even though you're new, you are a part of this school. Her over here." Finally, he caved and walked over, giving her a hug. Right at that moment though, one of the class clowns decided to push us all over, which resulted in a dog pile on top of the principal. The embarrassing thing was that Narcissus feel right on top of me. It's weird because it feels like he weighs a ton, but it also feels as if he's as light as a feather. He tenses up on top of me, which is very uncomfortable. Try having a 200 pound body lie on top of you, not able to get up.
Everybody started to chuckle nervously. You had to lay still, or else you'll hurt yourself and/or the person under you. We were so tangled up that not one of us could get out. Not even the ones on top. I looked down. It looked like the principal could barely breathe. Uh-oh.

2 hours later

Okay, this was starting to get uncomfortable. My legs fell asleep and I can't feel them. Is that bad? Everyone was still trying to move and get up, but I gave up. We're tangled up too much, and every time someone moves we all feel it. I already feel multiple bruises on my back and legs. For the last hour I've been trying to tell everyone to stop moving because it will cause all of us unnessecary pain. The new boy on top of me, Narcissus, was one of the first to realize this besides me, and ceased all movement. Thank God for that. I can't say the same for the person underneath me though. He was on the football team. I think his name was... um.... Jack- wait, no... Jake! Yeah, Jake! Well, Jake has been at it nonstop trying to get out. Because of that, I have many bruises on my stomach, arms, and legs.
I couldn't take it anymore and finally yelled at everyone. " JEEZ EVERYONE, WILL YOU JUST QUIT IT! ALL OF THIS STRUGGLING WON'T GET US ANYWHERE! WILL YOU ALL JUST STOP AND LISTEN FOR ONE MINUTE SO WE WON'T BE HERE FOR THE REST OF LUNCH!" I finally screamed. Everyone stopped what they were doing and started listening to me. "Finally!" I said, exasperated, " Now listen, with all of that flailing you're doing, have you realized that has gotten you nowhere, except giving yourself and others around you bruises? Did you even think about the principal? The more you move, the more you are squeezing Principal Kate. Look, she can barely breathe!" When I said that, everyone looked down at the principal in horror. She gave us an unsteady smile back in between her shallow breaths.
"Now," I continued, "will you listen?" They all turned back to me and nodded. I had a feeling that it was getting close to lunchtime, and an idea formed in my head. " Okay, it's only a few more minutes before lunch, so we need to do it before then. I need you guys to scream as loud as you can on three, okay?" Everyone nodded back at me. " Okay on three, one... two... three!" At the same exact time, all of us screamed at the top of our lungs. "Ahh!", "Help!", " Hello!"; anything to get people's attention.
A few minutes after that a few students and staff burst into the room "Wha-...?" They all looked at us for a few seconds while everyone let out a sigh of relief. I felt Narcissus gradually relax on top of me. "Than God." I mumbled under breath. Narcissus chuckled.
Right after that all of the teachers rushed up to us and slowly started to remove unknown people's limbs from the pile. It turns out that the reason we all couldn't move was because we were all glued together.
After about a half-hour, everybody was sitting down and curling their fingers and toes, trying to bring back feeling to them. One of the teachers had called for an ambulance to make sure that everyone is okay, mostly Principal Kate though. While we were screaming for help she had passed out. She didn't look that bad, but she has multiple bruises. Hopefully she doesn't have any internal bleeding.
After they called the ambulance, they called all of our parents to inform them of what had happened. It was kind of amusing, their reactions to it. Some were laughing about the whole ordeal, others saying it was a prank and denying it, and others hysterical about it, almost crying and begging the teachers to say their kids were alright. I stopped snickering, it was kind of wrong to laugh. What if something bad had actually happened? What if we were stuck here all night, what if Principal Kate died of lack of oxygen? That brought tears to my eyes. I pushed the dark thoughts away and thought of lighter things. It WAS kind of funny that we were stuck on top of each other for almost 3 hours because somebody decided to glue us all together during the hug. Who would've known?
A few minutes later multiple ambulances showed up, and about ten EMT's came inside, two with a stretcher. Those two went over to Principal Kate and strapped her in. They then immediately left. I hope she'll be okay.
For the next hour or so the rest of the EMT's went around treating peoples cuts and bruises. They said I just need to go home and get some rest. I'll be sore for the next few days, but I'll still be able to go to school. While the EMT's and the school nurse has been checking on us, parents had come and gone, taking their kids with them.
I looked over and noticed that Narcissus barely had one or two bruises, and that's it. He's lucky he was on the top. It's weird that he was so calm about this situation. This must be his worst first day ever.
I walked over to him. He looked startled when I walked up to him."Hey- Narcissus, right? I'm sorry about that, this must be the worst first day of school ever. Since I wasn't able to show you around school for obvious reasons ( we both chuckled at that ), how about I show you the school tomorrow. You probably don't like this school anymore, do you?" I must have looked disappointed because he said " W-what? I actually like this school, it's better than the other ones, anyways. Even though for most people it might have sucked, I actually have enjoyed this day. It just shows that there will be many more adventures in the days to come. Your principal seems pretty nice, too." I groaned. "Oh, c'mon! Not another guy that has the hots for the principal!" He looked at me bewildered. "Huh?! God no, I don't like the principal that way. I just meant that she was nicer than the others I have had!"
I blushed and averted my eyes, trying to look anywhere but at him. I noticed my parents coming towards me. I glanced at Narcissus out of the corner of my eyes, then glanced down. "U-um... my parents are here. Bye." I said half-heartedly. Right as I started to walk away Narcissus grabbed my hand. "Oh, and Jane," he whispered, " I look forward to that tour." He let go of my hand.
After that I walked out of the room and went home, still blushing.
