The sky is blue and the breeze is soft. The clouds are almost impossible to see and the sun is a shining bright colour of yellow and gold.

Birds are flying through the days air and seagulls make their signature screeching.

The town is quiet as people are at work or school , and the waves are calm and the sand a beautiful mix of gold and greys/ reds from stones.

We're on a trip with the school, as it's a reward of some sort. Only my form class, which I'm happy about as all my friends are with me.

We arrived at the beach not long ago, and the sun is casting down a nice wave of heat on us, while the soft crisp breeze keeps us from overheating.

The beach used to be one of my favourite places on the earth...I hardly go anymore, only once a month so me and Mae can have our scales rehydrated.

I'm sitting on my grey towel, next to the people I love dearly. My friends.

I'm closest to these people, and Annie is a siren, and Armin a merman. That's what makes me close to those two, but with Rose and Noah, their personalities pull me in. Their presences make me happy. Being able to be with them makes me happy...only problem is...

Is that their father is a co-leader to a well known Mermaid and Siren hunting organisation known as the SFH (special forced hunters)

They are popular among the human race for catching and exposing mermaids and sirens. Sometimes they just kill them, other times the mermaids or sirens are never seen again.

People like them are evil, their only exuse for hunting us is because we're apparently a threat...this would mainly be because of our powers...we can control water. Well, sirens can also control water and ice. I can control water, ice and air, something I inherited from my mother, she was amazing at controlling the elements...I guess that's what got her caught. She saved someone from falling from a building, and I guess mermaid hunters saw. So that's why they arrived at our house that day. I try not to think of it, but I can't help but blame myself.

Mermaids and sirens have healing powers, and any type of metal cannot puncture our skin, only silver can harm us.

And my name is Lillie Steehl

My sister Mae is one too

And we've managed to keep it hidden from the world for seven years, and I hope it will stay that way.

Anyways, back to where I was.

I'm here on a school trip, enjoying the silence and the sun.

I cannot go near water though, neither can Armin or Annie. Otherwise our tails will grow and we will be exposed.

We had to come up with excuses, Armin's was that he was allergic to sea water, mine was that I couldn't swim. Annie just flat out refused and everyone knows you can't argue with Annie.

I look over to Noah and Rose who are almost knee deep into the sea, splashing each over and talking. I wish I could join them, but if I got my legs wet then I'd transform. So I'm stuck here.

It might seem creepy but, I began to stare at Noah.

He's just so cute.
