The Assassination

An arm's length: the distance between me and Zara. The distance between me and victory. If she glanced down, I would be noticed. My shadow as towering over her. She must have realised I was right behind her. Doubts started filling my mind.... I had to I reminded myself. I ripped my zip open. I unsheathed the bloodthirsty machete from its shiny metallic cover. I struck her abdomen with a vigorous blow and I lashed out at the fierce wolfhound. Blood splattered all over my raging face. Her body loosened as if she had been electrocuted whilst the dog barked out in pain and terror. My face had been exposed to her. But it had been too late. She fell down painfully to her knees in a puddle of crimson red blood. I could smell the horrifying odour which had escaped from her half split stomach and diffused into the air.

"Plea..se, Pleas..e..." Zara cried powerlessly.

"One mmm..ore cha... Chance!" she stuttered fearfully.

Her voice was horrifying. Blood was rushing out from her body the way water rushes down a waterfall. But, I had suffered six tormenting and agonizing years. The anger within me roared louder than a lion! The bloody machete was still floating over her; its sharp and deadly end aiming at her neck. With all my power and might, I struck her: piercing deeply into her neck.

"Ahhhh!" she yelled.

It was the most terrifying and petrifying sound I had ever heard within my entire life: an animal cry that had broken out from the very depths of her soul. She dropped face down, splashing scarlet blood everywhere. It was as if her life had been snatched away from her the way a piece of cloth is ripped out of a thorny bush. I had witnessed enough! I had to get myself away from the bloody dead body. I had to escape! I had seen enough! The silence was deafening. The whole world came toppling down on me. Did she really deserve this? The clouds cramped together suspiciously as the sky darkened. A heart-breaking aroma of death filled the air as I examined the destruction and bloodshed I had caused...
