Chapter 14

Carl's POV

"Shit!" I said while Ron's car in the video game passed over me "how can you do that?" I frowned at him while I tried to keep up

"You are just slow" he said

"Am not! You've beat me like in every single round"

"...so you're slow or guess I'm just gifted"

"Or maybe it means that you have no life"

"Very funny"

"I'm just saying. You must spend a lot of time alone with your video games since you don't know where else to go and spending all this time on video games helped you become a pro" I said and shrugged, noticing that his smiled cracked "I was kidding"

"I know dumbass. Better catch up because I'm about to cross the finish line"

"I already am" I smiled as I knocked Ron's car over and ended up winning for the first time in forever "Yes!!!!!" I squealed and jumped up "I'm so proud of myself"

"Another round!"

"No no no no. I won. That's it. We said this one was the last one"

"You are no fun Carl"

"Don't be immature Ron" I said, wiggling my eyebrows at him

He smiled and started laughing which made me do the same. I sat next to him and laid on the floor, Ron copying my same moves. We both quiet down and left the room in an awkward silence. All I was thinking was 'please don't bring up our conversation from last night. Please' and to prevent it, I spoke

"So uhh what shall we do now?" I asked

"Hmmm I don't know...we've been playing video games for hours now"

"I know...ugh I just wanna do something fun"

"There is nothing fun to do here" Ron said and it's true I mean we barely do anything exciting around here all we do includes trying to stay alive for another day

"I wish something re-" I wasn't able to finish my sentence because we were both startled at the sound of two gunshots that came from outside that made us jump to our feet and run to the window where we didn't see anything

"What the hell was that!?" I asked

Then boom two other gunshots were heard, but it didn't seem to be coming from inside the walls, but from the outside. Which was even scarier. Me and Ron knelt down to the floor when more shots where fired. I was able to peek and see that the gates were being opened

"Shhhhh" I told Ron. He looked really nervous "we will be fine"

I heard walkers from the outside and as soon as I did I turned to the window where I saw a group or a gang standing by the entrance of Alexandria

"We have to help!" I told Ron but he seemed in denial. "Come on!" I said and grabbed his hand, but he only yanked it away

"I'm going to die. We are going to die." Shit not again with this bullshit

"No no no we won't. Okay? Listen to me. Me and you we will be safe just like everyone else. I promise you that" I said holding his hand tightly and connecting my eyes with his

"I can't. I'm not strong enough"

"Yes you are"

"I'm not! Or else I wouldn't have needed your help when we were outside the walls trying to find everyone...I'm weak"

"For Christ sakes! This is not the time! People need our help. Come on! Please"

"No! I C-Ca-" I had to cut him off. I had to. And I did by placing my lips on his hard. Enough to shut him off completely. He tried to push me off, but I refused to let him go. I simply placed my hand in his hair and softly passed my fingers over his blond locks which helped Ron sink into the kiss and grab my face with both his hands. I broke the kiss and held his face in my hands

"Trust me. You will be fine. I'll do anything to protect you. I know you're scared, but what you are doing right now is selfish" I said truthfully

He looked at the ground and then at me and nodded, so I stood up and grabbed his hand. We both then ran out. I took out my gun and passed him his knife. Which I was hiding all along

"Took you long enough" I heard him which only made me scoff then we started running in the way everyone else was, but I stopped when I saw my dad in the crowd. "Ron! I need you to run to my house and hide in the closet. Okay?"

"What? Are you insane? What are you trying to do??"

"Just go! No time to argue!" I yelled and pushed him away "run!" I said and ran to the crowd, but as soon as I was getting closer I was punched...or hit...I don't know...everything just went black.
