Sam's POV:
That night, I had had enough. I had to get out of the god forsaken orphanage. I had it all mapped out, but I couldn't leave Hope behind. She had been my best friend, being understanding over my grief when the others laughed. They would have to be helped another time. I tip-toed out of my room into the hallway, hoping the owner didn't find me and subject me to the torture of being locked in the cellar to starve for four days.Hope's POV:
I heard a breathing coming near my doors. Mrs Johnson must have found out about my secret sweet stash. I prepared for the worst (a yelling at, an illegal beating and worst of all, losing my sweets!), but I was surprised to hear a familiar voice outside.
"Hope..." Came the voice.
"Who is it?" I replied.
"It's Sam!" The person, who I now knew was Sam, replied.Sam's POV:
After explaining the plan about 5,999 times, we were ready. Slowly, we snuck downstairs into the cellar. I knew there was a hidden door to outside, I just had to find it.
"Who is that?!!!!!!! Get up here you wretched brats or I will have to set the dogs on you!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Oh CRAP!!!" I exclaimed, a little too loudly.
"Oh, it's you Sam!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess you must have brought that little girlfreind of yours, Hope!" Mrs Johnson yelled.
I struggled to find the door, without enough time to retort about the fact that Hope wasn't my girlfriend, and suddenly, a chunk of the wall opened wide, revealing the secret tunnel.
"Okay KIDDIES, time for me to bring out my little pets!" A yell came, followed by furious barks. We hurried into the tunnel, closing the doorway into the dimly lit tunnel behind them.
