Sans x Toriel- Lonliness

Frisk let out a little "eek!" as Papyrus corned them in the large, fenced-in backyard behind Toriel's house. Sans was entertained by his brother and the small human playing tag; Papyrus never accepted defeat and would always keep playing until he won.

Even after the Monsters were freed from Underground and moved onto the Surface, Papyrus didn't change a bit. Sans, however, was forced to change since living on the Surface required more effort than he was used to. It was tiring, so he cherished moments like these where he got a break from all the stress he dealt with on a daily basis.

"kids, huh," he whispered to himself.

A small laugh behind Sans made him jump. It was Toriel, the kind Boss Monster who cared for Frisk as if they were her own. She was pretty, and it almost upset Sans that he didn't know her better, especially since they would tell jokes to each other through the Ruins door.

"I err...." Sans was at a loss for words.

"You seemed lonely just standing here watching them," Toriel said. "so I came to keep you company."

"thanks," Sans paused, unsure of what to say next. "Tori - can I call you that? - do you ever get lonely even when you're around people?" (Temmie Flakes to whoever knows what I referenced there)

Toriel sighed. "Yes Sans, I do." she looked away. "Ever since I left Asgore and locked myself away in the Ruins, all I've had were the children that fell from the Surface, er, here. But eventually they all left. You never did, though. And I still feel like I barely know you."

Sans nodded. "I know exactly what you mean." His eyes drifted to her hand, neatly at her side. Hoping he wouldn't get a negative reaction, he took it. "you don't have to feel lonely anymore."

Toriel blushed slightly, trying to hide it. "I'll take you up on that offer."

The two walked back into the house, hand in hand, not even realizing that Papyrus and Frisk were watching with mouths open.
