Las Vegas, Nevada

The man kept me in his strange transportation for ages. I could feel my cells growing older. Outside of the window, there where many lights. It's was beautiful against the dark night sky. I placed my hand upon the smooth, cold glass; staring in astonishment. These beings have nice things, I enjoy them. Some of them. Not all.

There were so many of the transportation things, I wonder what they were called. Maybe this man can teach me? But the language barrier.....
I tapped him and pointed out the window at the things, then turned to look in his eyes.

"What? The cars?" He spoke, glancing over for just a few seconds.

I pointed once more at one of the things.

"Cars," he said with a slight nod. "Can you say that? Say cars."

I turned and looked out the window one more at the things, "car?" I tried my best to copy him.

"Yea, those are cars," he responded.

I nodded and stared at them, repeating the word. It was strange, the way it sounded, made me unsure of my own voice. It was a start though, perhaps this being can introduce me to his native tongue. Might take awhile, however. The frustration filled me once again, it's not going to work. Little take too long and who knows how long I have on this planet. With all the bleeding I'm doing I might just lose all of it.

"Where are you from?" He spoke again.

I turned and placed a hand on him, " Kuacha kuzungumza na mimi" (stop talking to me)

"Oh you...you speak Swahili?? I recognize it instantly! Oh this is great, my wife speaks Swahili maybe she can help you learn English."

I stared at him with fury burning in my eyes, does he not get that I cannot understand him? How long have I been in this...this "car" and he still doesn't get that I don't speak the same tongue. These beings are more unintelligent than I thought. You would think that with all the stuff they have (although it doesn't seem to be as advanced as back home) they'd have some sort of intelligence. Lies, all lies. They continue to speak to me in their tongue as if I'll magically understand them.

We continued down the black path for a little longer before turning into this place. The pathways in here were slanted and there were many cars. Still, and dark, lying there like animals that need their rest. Eventually the man pulled into a spot and took the stick out of the car. The roaring engine died down letting am eerie silence set over the place. I watched as the man stepped out and slammed his door shut before doing the same shortly after. From here I followed him up the slanted pathway to this small place. It had doors that were tightly sealed shut. I wondered if this was his home. I watched as he pushed a button next to the door. It glowed a yellow light, with an arrow pointing up. I looked up at the ceiling, wondering what it was pointing to. It couldn't be a lift....could it? These being aren't intelligent enough for that....

But I was wrong, with a ding the doors opened revealing a small box. I shook my head, slightly amazed. Back home, these things were apart of the past. I only heard about them in classes. It's almost as if, by traveling to this planet.... I somehow went back in time. We stepped in to the lift and the doors closed, the man pushed another button I assumed would take us to a higher level. This time I was correct, the doors opened to reveal a hallway with three doors. One door to the left, one in the middle, and the last on the right.

I followed him to the middle door, which he used a different.....stick...on before twisting the knob. Back home, all you had to do was just type your password on the hovering keyboard next to the door. And the door would swing open without needing you to apply force. Back home..... I miss home.

I stepped forward into the housing unit, the man shutting the door behind me. The place was filled with a delightful smell. I closed my and deeply inhaled; allowing the scent to tickle my nose and swirl in my lungs. The man disappeared down a hallway, I assumed it was to retrieve his significant other.  I sat down on a chair in the middle of the floor. It was long, extending through most of the small room.

Soon the man came back with his partner. Her appearance shocked me. She had smooth, brown skin with dark brown eyes. Her hair was in locks which fell perfectly down to her waist. She looked....well she looked like me. Like I could be her daughter. My eyes locked onto hers and she returned the gaze. I thought I was the first to be banished from home, perhaps not.

"jina lako nani?"(What is your name?) I questioned, breaking the silence in the room.

"jina langu ni Ashonte" (My name is Ashonte) she answered, stepping forward. "Nina maswali mengi kwa ajili yenu" (I have many questions for you)

I nodded, surprised to hear her speak. But I couldn't focus as i watched the man disappear once more. I frowned wondering where he was going. Eventually I assumed it was nothing and turned my attention back to the lady.

(The man's pov)

"Hello?"

"We have her," I replied......................
