I woke up the next morning with a spring in my step. He had kissed me, really kissed me. Draco liked me. He always had. My insides fluttered, then my stomach growled. I dressed quickly in my school robes, trying not to trip on the hem of it all.
I started singing a song I had made up last night as I made my way to the common room.
"He likes me, he really likes me, imagine that," I sang, dancing a little. I had woken up earlier than everyone else, which was a change. I saw someone sitting on the couches that surrounded the fireplace and stopped my song routine.
Crabbe and Goyle sat, waiting for someone. Draco, no doubt. I started smiling, and the two smirked.
They looked as if they know a terrible secret.
Draco entered the common room. He looks over at his trail and then over to me. He grinned.
"Hello beautiful," he said, crossing the room to hug me.
"Hey, you," I said. He made a funny face. "It's an American thing," I said. I was mentally hitting myself for that one. "Idiot."
He took my hand in his and fiddled with my fingers for a moment.
"We've got to go to the library, but I'll meet you at breakfast in a half an hour," Draco said.
"Couldn't I come with-"
"No!" He shouted. I took my hand from his and started at him in shock.
"No, I'm sorry I shouted, but this is something I need to do with just these two. I'll see you at breakfast, love." He kissed my cheek and walked out the door.
I watched as he walked out, Crabbe and Goyle following closely behind. They still had that stupid smirk plastered on their faces.
I went to breakfast alone. I sat next to Zabini, and I ate quickly. My appetite had disappeared while walking upstairs.
I saw Vivian walk in. I stood up to go talk to her. I figured she could help somehow.
"Vivian! Hey!" I said, forcing a smile.
"Hi! Presley, right?" She said. I nodded.
"Did you finish the Astronomy homework? It was absolutely awful. Would you like to come sit down?" She asked.
"Am I welcome?" I asked, hesitant.
"Sure! Everyone will love you!" She exlaimed, grabbing my hand and pulling me over to the table. I sat next to Cedric Diggory, who was making eyes at that Gryffindor I had ran into at the Three Broomsticks.
"Careful, I've been told saliva doesn't mix well with syrup," I said to Cedric.
He looked over at me, holding a spoon in his hands.
"He and Gianna are officially off again," Vivian said.
"Oh god, I'm sorry," I said. Vivian rolled her eyes.
"Don't worry, they'll be back together within the week," a boy across from us said.
"Shut up Preece," Cedric said, throwing his napkin at him.
Vivian giggled. I turned my nose up at her, in disbelief.
"Did you just giggle?" I whispered.
"Shut your pie hole, Slytherin," she muttered.
"It wasn't even a joke," I argued back.
"One step closer and I'll jinx you," Cedric said. I turned to him in surprise.
