I woke up to my alarm sounding. My alarm being my nine year old daughter yelling. Telling me that she needed to be to school. I rolled over and groaned, opening my eyes a little bit to see my husband sleeping soundly still. I smiled before kissing his jaw lightly.

"I'm coming Rylan, hold on baby." I said to her as she stood at the door. I tried to get out of bed, but he grabbed my waist, pulling me back next to him.

"I'll be there in a second. Promise." Rylan scampered out of the room and I looked at the clock, seeing that I had thirty minutes to get her to school. He pulled me close to him, kissing my neck repeatedly and running his hand up my thigh, trailing it to my side.

"Good morning beautiful." He said in my ear softly. I giggled as he pulled me into his chest.

"Good morning."

"Can't you have Dixie take her to school today? I just got back from my trip, and I want to spend time with you." He asked me with a sweet tone. How could I say no? Sadly, Rylan really did want me to take her to school, otherwise, she wouldn't have woken me up.

"She wants me to take her. I promise you I'll be back soon." I slipped out of his arms and put one of his hoodies over my shorts and shirt since it was getting cold out. We lived in New York, and it could get cold, even in spring. I put on a pair of uggs and walked out of our room, closing the door for him. Dixie, our Nannie for Rylan and Jonah, greeted me as I reached the kitchen. My daughter was happily eating frenchtoast that Dixie must have made.

"Good morning Ms. Leighton."

"Morning Dixie." I said as I kissed my daughter on the top of her head.

"Ready to go sweetheart?" I asked her as I went over to the coffee maker to make myself some coffee before we left.

"Yes momma." She told me, pushing her plate at Dixie.

"Thanks a lot." I said to her, slipping a five dollar bill in her jeans pocket. Her eyes widened after she realized what I had done.

I mouthed," Just take it." To her. She thanked me and I got my daughter's backpack for her.

"How about you go say bye to daddy real quick." I suggest to Rylan, crouching next to her and winking. She ran off toward our bedroom upstairs. I stood up, yawning and stretching. I still wasn't full awake as I sipped at my coffee.

"Let's go! I have to get to school to see Liam." Rylan rushed down the stairs, pulling my hand toward the door.

"Okay, okay." I laughed.

-
"Told you I'd be back just like that." I smirked as I got back in bed. I looked at the clock and saw that it was only 7:45. And I was wide awake. I put my head and hands on his chest, and he wrapped his arms around me.

"So, how was the trip overall?" I asked, my body sinking into his. He'd just got back from a trip to the Bahamas with his family, and I stayed back here with the kids since it was a thing between him, his brothers, and his parents. He was gone for about two weeks, and I missed him terribly. Now, he was finally home.

"Amazing. Kev actually met someone there."

"Isn't that funny. You and I met there too." I chuckled. Nick and I met in the Bahamas about thirteen years ago. We dated for about a year, then we got engaged, then we got married and had Rylan not long after. Jonah, our two year old, came soon after.

"True, true." He kissed the top of my head.

"I'm so tired." I complain, stretching my arm across his body.

"Then go back to bed silly."

"Jonah's gonna get up soon."

"I got it. Just get some rest. I know how late you were up last night." I was so grateful that he cared about how much rest I got considering my job. I was an author and an editor for a big company, so I was up late almost every night. I had deadlines to meet all the time.

"Okay, thank you. I love you." I kissed his lips sweetly before snuggling in on my side of the bed. He embraced me for a hug and kiss before leaving me in the room to catch up on sleep.

Nick's POV
I shut the door quietly so my wife could get some rest. With all writing she's been doing, plus taking care of the kids, and keeping the house clean, it takes a lot out of her. I snuck over to my son's room, seeing him sound asleep under his Scooby Doo covers. I smiled, then shut his door all the way.

"Good morning Mr. Nick." Dixie says to me as she loads the dishwasher. We hired her originally to take care of the kids when Leighton and I were on the road a lot, but then she began to just clean wherever she felt necessary.

"Morning Dixie." I said, going over to the fridge to get some orange juice. To my dismay, there's none in the fridge. I frowned, but decided on just coffee then. I had to be to work in about a half hour, and I was not ready. But if I wasn't there by 8:45 sharp, Bailey would kill me. I sat in front of the tv in the living room, procrastinating on getting ready, and watched the news.

"Someone wants to see you." I heard Leighton's voice behind me. Great, she's up again. I turned around and she had Jonah in her arms. I stood up and took him from her, kissing the top of his head.

"How's my little man doing this morning?" I asked him. He didn't reply, but nuzzled his face into my shoulder. I looked over at Leighton and she only shrugged.

"I'm hungry." Jonah said in my ear in a whining tone. I rolled my eyes, knowing that if I got him breakfast, and still wasn't ready, I'd be late to work for sure. I brought him into the kitchen, putting his booster seat on a chair at the table.

"Dixie!" I called throughout the house. I heard the scuttle of shoes and the woman appeared in a flash.

"Can you please get Jonah something? I'm gonna be late if I don't get ready now. Do you mind?" She shook her head no, smiling in assurance.

"Not at all. Go ahead. That's what I'm here for, right?"

"You're the best." I smiled, giving her a small hug before heading upstairs to get ready. Once to our bedroom, I saw Leighton getting ready. I was suddenly confused.

"Babe, you don't need to go to work for another hour." I told her, finding a button down shirt along with some jeans to wear to work. She looked at me in her full length mirror, checking her outfit at the same time.

"I know, but I do need to run errands."

"Dixi-"

"She is the Nannie for Jonah and Rylan. She's not our housekeeper Nick. I can still do things around my own home. Provide for my own family." I could tell she didn't get much sleep last night. I wasn't about to argue further about it.

"Alright, alright. I gotta go." I kissed her cheek, wrapped my arm around her waist in a hug, then hurried downstairs. As I tied my tie around my neck, I made my way into the bathroom Leighton and I shared to brush my teeth quickly. With one last check in the mirror, I went out to say goodbye to Jonah and Dixie, then I was out the door.
