8 weeks later

Chapter 8

My foot is healed and so is Luckys. I want to ride him so today I will.

I hobble outside to the barn because crutches made my one leg stiff.

I get into the barn and decide to ride Lucky bareback. Lucky comes to the edge of his stall and I grab a mounting block and a rope that I use while riding bareback.

I get onto Lucky and make him walk out to the arena. So far so good. I take him in a trot once around in the arena. Good. I then walk him to behind the house. He stumbles a bit but makes it back to the arena.

Then my aunt Lucy comes with her horse, Jewel, in a trailer. I know what she is here for, I asked her on the phone to come today to breed Jewel with Lucky.

My aunt leads Jewel out of the trailer and into the arena just as my dad comes outside. "Ok bring Lucky into the arena and let him go, same with Jewel."

Now Lucky is in the arena with Jewel. Then Lucky does his thing.

Jewel is going to have her baby and time soon.

My dad, aunt, and I are all sitting in the largest stall my dad has.

Then Jewel starts to pant and I know the baby is coming now.

My dad gets down on his knees to help the birth process.

First I see a tiny hoof, then legs, the head, and he body comes out last.

After the baby was all of the way out of Jewel, my aunt says, "you can name it if you want"

I looked at the baby. It was a colt. He had a tiny strip of white in the middle of his face. He had a reddish color to his body, just like his mom.

"I think I'm going to name him, Miracle."
