"Hello class. Did you sleep well?" our teacher asked us.

Well I sure didn't. You know how I chose to sign up?

Well after I did with shaky hands, I cried and cried until I fell asleep so do you think that I slept well? I don't think so.

Anyway,back to the classroom......

"Today we are going to talk about the history and famous artists since this week is art week." she said looking at the classroom.

Suddenly the speakers above the room came on.

"Sorry for the interruption everyone," it blasted," Hailey please go straight to the art room. Thank you." it said.

The whole class turned to me and it went silence until Mrs.Gades started the lesson once again.

I walked down and my shoes echoed through the hallway.

I opened he door and the art teacher gave me a big greeting.

"So what did you decide Hailey?" she said holding her breath.

"I've decided that I would do it." I said with a big breath.

"YAY!" she said. She brought me a chair and and gestured me to sit down in it.

She brought a canvas over to where I was sitting and she put it in front of me.

"What's this for?" I asked as she was getting me paints from the supplies closet.

"Since you are entering the art show, I thought we should start practicing. I will be you're mentor." she said as she looked at me, waiting for a response.

"You never mentioned this!" I said as I started to slip into one of my famous panic modes.

"You already agreed to the art show and I feel right that you should have some practice in school." she said as she plopped some paint on my plate.

I did a big sigh and I turned towards the canvas, and picked up a paintbrush.

"So what are we going to paint today." I said as I dipped my paint in water to make sure it was clean.

"We are going to be painting cattle." she said.

"Why?" I asked her, curios to see what her answer might be.

"I recently went to a rodeo and it got me inspired." she said looking at the ceiling.

"Do I have to do this?" I said pleading to her.

"I'll tell you what," she said," Every time I want you to paint, and if I like you final piece, I'll give you an A+ for one semester for every 5 paintings."

"Deal." I said. At least that was one pro about painting in school.

I picked up my brush and I dipped it into the brown paint. I watched the brown paint gleam in the light and gather onto the paint brush..... this might be fun after all.

"This reminds me of my friend." I said looking up at my teacher.

"What? Oh really. Does she go to this school?" she said gathering some papers and moving them to her desk.

"She went to my old school when I was in 3rd grade. Her name was Niya, and she loves the Longhorns so this reminds me if her." I said as memories flushed my head of when we played together, back then.

I started to do elegant brushes here and there and mixed in the colors of the rainbow to make a color I've never seen before, and it was beautiful.

After I finished, I got thirsty,so I went to get a drink of water.

I left a note on her desk that I would be right back, and then I walked out the door.

When I got at the water fountain, I dipped down to get a drink.

I suddenly heard voices down the hallway, and I heard one of them mention my name.

I stopped drinking and went over there to see who was talking.

I listened carefully to the voices as I slowly crept up the hallway.

"Dude, you should go for it! Why don't you just tell her." I heard a voice say.

"What if she says no.... I don't want to embarrass myself." I heard a voice that was too familiar.

"I think I'm going to try to ask her, I mean she doesn't know that I like her, so Hailey might like me back." I heard the so familiar voice say.

No.... it can't be.....

I turned my head slowly around the wall and I was shocked.

The so familiar voice............................. it was Jess.
