It was a calm yet cold night. Shop keepers were preparing to close, while I was preparing for work; my phone began to ring, playing my favourite song that I set my ring-tone the classic ring-tone
I did not hesitate to answer as the caller I'D 'Daddy Chico' came up
"Hello dad! What's up?" I asked, I pulled a chair from under the table and sat down
The sound of clinking glasses told me that I was soon to make my way to work
"Amethyst, I know how eager you can be to get into work... I beg you -- I'll even get on my knees and beg...please take your time and come in late' He paused and then said, 'Now what boss does that for their employee?" He Said
He begged for me to come to work late; I let out a slight chuckle as I noted the message down. Knowing that I would just forget about it... Some rules are just meant to be broken
"Yeah, sure... See you later, daddy," I said
I lazily pushed myself back to my feet, slipping my phone into my pocket. As I headed towards the door, I grabbed my jacket from the back of the couch and threw my jacket over my shoulder.
Living a couple of blocks away which was a bonus? Knowing that I only had to walk around the corner and I was there. I had to be late today. I'd made an attempt to take my time, to make Chico happy.... but before I knew it I was already by the staff door
Walking into Club Vivo, I quickly hung up my jacket, undone a couple of buttons on my chequered shirt just as Chico turned the corner
"AMERTHYST!"
Oh crap. I wasn't long enough.
"I thought I had told you to come in late,' There was that smile. I knew I wasn't in trouble. He winked at me and went back to polishing the drink tap. 'Try to be Next time"
I looked at him and smiled. Always let me off lightly. I started polishing the drink taps. 'Try to be next time"
I looked at him and smiled. Always let me off lightly. I started polishing the glasses ready for the party animal. That's what I called them, even if Chico nags me to call them customers
"I'm sorry; I thought I was taking my time. you know about going slow.' I smiled at him warmly. 'I just love it here!"
I went to open the doors ready for a long night of service. It wouldn't be long before they started queuing at the doors. I loved it seeing the DJ get to his station. I often watched him messing with his disks, bobbing along to the invisible music. Tonight he was on the fast track, instantly playing his new and improved tunes he'd be practising
"Amethyst! Guess what?!" shouted Chico
He danced around a bit behind the bar, clutching something close. And then he raised it into the air waving and envelope for my eyes to see. As he walked out behind the bar, I looked at him with a simple smile on my face.
Just seeing him happy, it made me happy
"WHAT?!' I shouted. The music wasn't that loud, but you still had to shout to be heard "what's that?"
Chico pranced towards me, still grinning. As soon as he was in front of me, the envelope was down my top.
"It's payday!" He shouted, tapping my shoulders. Before I knew it, I'd blinked and he was walking back towards the bar
Reaching down my top, I pulled free the envelope and looked down at it proceeded to open it. That is when I saw a cheque reading '£900,' and a copy of a parchment that read 'Will' on top. A note attached to the parchment said, 'I know you won't listen but please read when you get home...'
