Chapter Eight Room 210
“Hey Nikky!”
“How’s it going Nikky?”
“What’s up, girl?”
I was walking through the hall to where I was meeting Dent and at least twenty people said hi in one way or another. I knew a few of them, but most people were complete strangers to me.
“Hey girl, hey!”
I grabbed the guy that had called out to me and asked him how he knew me.
“You’re friends with Liam. I doubt there’s anyone that doesn’t know you by now. Hey, you wanna have lunch sometime?” Stunned, I shook my head and continued walking.
So, because he’s my roommate, Liam’s popularity is rubbing off on me? Since when is that how society works?
“Hey Kiki,” Dent’s voice pulled me out of my reverie. “You look a little shaken up. Everything okay?” He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me in for a hug.
My thoughts traveled and mixed themselves up. I just couldn’t seem to wrap my head around what that guy had said.
“Earth to Kiki!” Dent knocked on my forehead.
“Oh, yeah. Sorry. Brain is kinda scrambled right now. Were you asking me something?:
He grinned and cocked his head to the side. “No. ust trying to make sure everything is okay in that pretty little head of yours,” he kissed the top of my head. “Hey! How about pizza?” We continued on our way down the hall. “Or maybe a burger. With bacon and avocado. Yeah… But pizza has so many…” I tuned him out as we reached the quad.
On our way, more people waved and said hi to me when we passed them. This has to stop. I’ll need to have a word with Liam about it later.
At the thought of talking to Liam, my heartbeat sped up. I wonder when he’s going to take me on a “date.” Where would we go? What kind of food does he like? Will I have to dress up? I’ll have to raid Twylah’s closet. Do I have anything that would be fancy enough? Should I wear make up? I hate make up though. All the junk on-
“What do you think Kiki?”
“Huh?”
“Pizza or a burger?” Dent frowned. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
Had he been talking the whole time I was inner monologuing? Crap. Now I feel bad.
I smiled and tilted my head like I was thinking about it. “Well, first date and all-”
He grinned, “This is a date?”
I cringed inwardly, “Didn’t you call it a date?”
“I don’t think so.” Damn. Now what? “I suppose this could be a date,” He shrugged. “But I’ll take you to a movie sometime. That’ll be our official first date. I’ll have called it an actual date then. You know, when I ask.”
“Huh.” I couldn’t think of a better way to respond.
He smiled at me, “You never answered my question.”
“And what was that?”
“Pizza or burgers?”
