Kiera

I got home from school and it was dead silent in the house. It usually was but mom said she'd be home early tonight. Guess she got held back? It's not like it was unusual or anything, it happened all the time. Getting to the kitchen I see a note saying that she had swapped shifts with her friend and won't be home until tomorrow. Great. Deciding to just watch a movie on the couch I go grab my blanket and make myself comfy. By the third movie it was about twenty passed six and I was hungry. Deciding on Mac and cheese I make myself dinner. As I eat the hot beverage I think of how my life turned out. How I wish something good would happen. I was sick of being miserable. It didn't seem the way to my mother but she's barely home to notice anything. Just like dad was. He was never home, then he left us. It felt like I didn't have my mom anymore. The nights she was home she'd cut conversations short, leave the room to answer calls, and she was in and out all the time. I was alone and I hated it. Some days I wish I was kidnapped. I feel like I'd actually be listened to, I'd at least have someone to talk to. Wether it was me begging for the kidnapper to loosen the rope or to shoot me and end my misery. Either way being kidnapped would be better then being alone to just remind myself of the life I live. Finishing my Mac and cheese I settle for another movie. Half way through the movie there was a knock at the door. Getting up I go to the door and open it to see a guy maybe two years older than I, drenched from the heavy rain outside. "Hey can I use your phone? My car broke down and my phone died." He says and I nod. Stepping aside he comes in and I close the door. Walking down the hall I grab him a towel and hand it to him. "I'll just grab you the phone." I say and he nods. Going to the kitchen I grab the house phone and when I turn the guy was behind me. Handing him the phone he tries a few different numbers before cursing. "Can I just wait here ten minutes and try someone again?" He asks shyly and I nod. "Yeah I'll grab you a robe and I'll throw your clothes in the dryer." I say. Grabbing the guy a robe I hand it to him and tell him where the bathroom was.

The guy comes back down and I take his clothes from him and place them in the dryer. "Thank you so much. Not many people would open their home to a stranger." The guy says. "You know that's what cereal killers say." I say closing the dryer door and standing up. Walking out of the laundry I sit on the couch and press play on the movie. The guy sits on the couch after five minutes and I throw some blanket over to him. He moves closer to me and covers his body with the blanket. "Thank you." He mumbles and I just continue watching the movie. When the movie finished I looked over at the guy who was half asleep. "Are you hungry?" I ask the stranger and he turns his head and looks at me. "No I'm fine." He whispers. "That's a lie. Is Mac and Cheese ok?" I ask and he nods. Getting up I make him his food while he tries to call someone. "Why the fuck do you have a phone if you don't answer the god damn thing?!" He shouts into the phone and hangs up. Staying quiet the guy comes into the kitchen and puts the phone back on charge. "Where abouts is your car?" I ask and the guy looks at me. "At the end of the street. It's a shit heap." He says and I hand him the bowl of mac and cheese. "Well after you eat we'll push it to my place and I'll check it in the morning. It's probably out of gas or something." I say and he nods. After he finished eating we pushed his car to my place and I told him he could just crash the night here. It was seriously stupid of me to let a stranger in and stay the night but what's the worse that could happen right?
