Chapter Nine

I decide not to tell Brandon where I'm off to, he'd ask all sorts of questions that I'm not sure how to answer. I barely know Percy other than what he looks like and what his name is. So I tell Brandon that I'm off to the store and that I had a ride so he could use my car if he wanted. That convinced him to let me leave because now he had a mode of transportation free at his use. Lord only knows how much he'll take advantage of it.

By the time Brandon leaves in my car, taking Bane and Riley with him, it was almost seven and I'm finishing up getting ready. I don't wear much make up so I just throw on some mascara and a nice skirt and a casual yet cute crop top. Five minutes until seven, Percy's headlights shine into the front windows of my house. Before I can let myself out and lock the door, he comes up to greet me with a bouquet of flowers in hand.

"Percy that's so sweet of you," I smile like an idiot, "Come in, I'll put these in a vase," I narrate for him. He smiles while opening the door for me and accepting my invitation.

It doesn't take long for me to fill a glass cup with water and place the flowers in there, readjusting the placement of certain flowers to make it look fuller.

Once I finish with the flowers I thank him and he grabs ahold of my hand. We walk to his car with small talk, like 'how are you' 'how was your day' yadda yadda. When we get into the car he starts asking me a few questions.

"Why's the house empty? Isn't your brother a big party kid?" He smirks at me and looks over at me while he's driving.

"He's a party kid, but he goes to them, doesn't throw 'em. Hahaha," I laugh at my own statement and he smiles with me, "He's probably going to a party currently," I state. Which is probably true but I didn't care enough to investigate earlier where he'd be taking my car, "So where are we off to?"

"Was I supposed to plan something special?" he asks with an awkward tone. I shake my head, almost feeling bad for expecting somewhat of a plan.

"No, of course not, it's just I don't know the town so you're-"

"Hey, I'm kidding," he says smiling and resting a hand upon my shoulder, "I've got a little something planned," he intertwines his fingers with mine, and leads me outside. On our way out I grab my purse, really quickly, and lock up the deteriorating house. As if locking the front door would keep someone out of this place. If someone wanted in all they'd have to do is blow air onto the house and it'd collapse in an instant.

His car isn't the nicest car, not even as nice as my old cheap thing, but it's clean and smells good. He opens my door for me, waits for me to get in, and shuts the door after me. He gets in his side and starts the engine up. The engine makes this horrid sound, a mix between a rumble and a gurgle, but I look passed it. He starts off down the road and drives for five minutes of small talk. He sure has a beautiful smile, his pearly white teeth are perfectly aligned and accent his plump lips really well.

"So where are we off to tonight?" I ask in response, hoping for a real answer this time. He laughs but shakes his head in reply. With all this hype I seem to feel underdressed. But looking at his fashion choice, he's in nice khakis and a v-neck tee-shirt, so I think I'm fine.

"I'm not telling you, you'll have to wait and see," this statement begins to concern me that he's not quite sure where we're going but he wants to make it seem like he's put a lot of thought into this and maybe he just needed to drive around and find a place that was open. But I need to stop over thinking and over analyzing everything. Percy's a cute guy and I shouldn't expect such little from him. But at the same time, I don't want to expect too much from him, that never seems to go well for females.
