Nikhil's POV
"Good game.." I smiled at Kajal, whose face was now hung as she just surrendered to my "Beer pong skills"..
"Yeah... wanna play again??"
She asked hoping that I would fall for her trap but I was better than that. I knew that my chances of winning again were damn high, but I was enjoying whatever was happening here. Boys were happy as I finally avenged them on the other hand Kajal was trying her best to get me to play again and for giving her a chance to redeem herself.
In the middle of all this chaos my eyes were continuously searching for her in the crowd. Finally I spotted her standing in the corner chatting with Mansi. God!! I love my dear sister for her brains.. She probably knew that I'll look for her so she engaged her into her conversation. From here it looked like those two were some astrophysicists discussing molecular dynamics of particle physics, it looked that intense. Finally Mansi called for me and I went straight to them, leaving boys and Kajal to decide which is the superior sex.
"This is my dear cousin brother Nikhil. And She is.."
"Prachi." I said cutting off Mansi in the middle as I extended my hand for her to shake praying that she wouldn't think that I'm a creep or I wouldn't have made a fool of myself. Thankfully she took it and shook it. With a smile on both our faces our eyes met for the first time.
"I was telling her about us.. school.. college.. and now the job..."
"Seriously!! How is this even possible?? You guys aren't joking right??" Prachi questioned the legacy.
"Unfortunately.. That's the sad truth." I said with a straight face. Which earned me a smack from Mansi and a giggly smile from Prachi.
"So..You are from Mumbai?" I tried to maintain the conversation.
"Yupp.. born and brought up in Mumbai.. But I've spent some years in Chandigarh too.."
"Hmm!! interesting.. lemme guess Dad's transfer??"
"I'll catch up with you guys later." With that Mansi jumped off her barstool and waved towards Kajal in the crowd, who called her for a round of beer pong. GOD!! This girl can drink.. I'm never calling out her for a drinking competition. She will definitely bag and sack me.
"Actually mom's.." She tried her best to hide it but I could surely see the hesitation that she was having while sharing info about her parents.
Mind note:- "Don't talk about her parents.. it's a touchy subject."
"For how many years have you been dancing??" I shifted the conversation to another topic and took her off guard.. She tried to process whatever I just said and tried to answer.
"Those moves last night... that was Pro-stuff.. That comes from a lot of practice... And I'm talking about A lot of Practice.." I said emphasizing the last few words.. She got her compliment and a smile broke upon her beautiful face.
"You were not bad either.." She answered with a cute cockyness.
"Ohh please.. I was vulnerable. At first I was like "okayy!! I got this.." but as soon as you started to move it turned into "Dude...you are screwed.. Big Time.." Now she was having a genial laugh.
My dear reader keep this in mind *Girls love compliments, but be careful they can also smell lies or fake compliments...*
Wait!! that's not a generalized concept its just what I've learned.. throughout my life I've been a ladies guy.. not that I was a fuckboy or something like that, I had many girl friends.. Being an excel guy has some of its own perks. There's this mechanism that works in a guy's favour which is, whenever you compliment a girl there's a strong impression you are leaving on her subconscious mind. Plus if the girl reciprocates... It's a jackpot. Okay now I'm sounding like a freaking love guru or something.. but guys remember this
Always Compliment a Girl.. there will always a thing for which you can compliment a girl..If you are lucky there will be multiple things. Girls are made that way.. Born to be complimented."I used to dance in school and college.. Won some competitions here and there.. Nothing much to bragg about.. You tell me what's your story?? You dropped some.... what was that.. "Pro-stuff" too last night."
Now it was my turn to smile.
"Dance is one of my hobbies. I used to do underground battles... for the sake of fun. You seem calm, Usually people freak out whenever they listen "underground".
"Relax.. I won't judge. Instead I like people who follow their heart."
Her company had this warm feeling. It was comfortable and pleasurable. No doubt people would be crazy for her.
"Well on that note.. Would you like to have a drink?
Fingers crossed.
"Why not.."
Success.
We ordered our drinks and chatted for a while. Drinks arrived. Some more chit chats..I found out a lot about her like she was a foodie like me, loved pandas, adrenaline junkie, knows 6 different languages and can even kill a wild cat with her bare hands. Yup that skilled.
Sana called everyone as our dinner was being served and we headed towards there. Dinner was delicious. There were 5 different cuisines to choose from. I glanced towards Prachi once and she was busy in some talk with Kajal.
"Oye hoye lover bouy...control dude.. Don't look like a lost puppy without her she's right across the table." Mansi teased.
"Oye shut up yaaar... I was just checking out other people."
"Say whatever suits you, I already know the truth."
Ting Ting Ting
"Good evening everyone.. I on behalf of Delhi HQ and Program Management Committee welcome all of you. Here, I would like to raise a toast. "For the well being of the loved ones and New beginnings."
"Cheers." The sound of 9 people came in a unison.
The food was amazing. It was like poetry for eyes and treat for nose and mouth. The chefs had done an outstanding job in preparing the meal. I would've eaten the dishes along with the food but I controlled myself. The dinner was a success.
"You guys must be tired. Please take rest. You guys will need all the rest you can get. Who knows how the morning will turn out.." Sana addressed all of us with a sly grin howering over her face in the last sentence.
Okay.. My spidey senses were telling me...Actually warning me that something is coming. Rest of us too got the catch and we all decided to call it a night, we said our goodnights and dispersed to our respective rooms. If only I knew about the events of the morning.
