I'm walking under the sun one hot afternoon with a cool wind slowly blowing. Taking the surest path I reach my destination, slowly I open the door and greeted the person seated in the chair at a small like-counter.

"Good afternoon ma'am, is he here?" I asked pleasantly with a small smile on my lips.

"Hi," she answered. "He's in his usual place in his own created world," she rolled her eyes and smile at me, then she's back on what she's doing at her table.

I take a slow step to the far end of this place, to where students didn't bother to go except for him. Maybe you wonder where I am? I'm here in one of his favorite places wherein there are so many books to read. Yeah, I'm in the library and looking for him.

I saw him holding a book while sleeping peacefully, there are so many books scattered around him. Seriously, how many books did he read in just 3 or more hours? I asked myself. I sit in front of him and look at his handsome face intently for a while. I touch his cheek, feeling the soft skin in my hand. I sit next to him, settle myself, and put his head on my shoulder to let him have a comfortable sleep. I put away the book he was holding, and his reading glasses away from his face and put them in my bag.

He shifted his position and let himself be comfortable in my embrace, a smile slowly form from his lips, he knows it was me. I pick up one of the scattered books beside me and started scanning it, I wonder what kind of book is it. As usual, it's a detective story. Yeah, he loves detective stories and his favorite is Sherlock Holmes written by Conan Doyle. I close the book, put it beside me, and check the others, all of them are about detective stuff.

I stare at the face of the guy who is trustingly sleeping on my shoulder. It's no wonder that he read this kind of book all the time because he is a detective geek. His father is a great mystery writer/novelist but he doesn't want to be like that. He wants to exist and live in the real detective world, to be a real detective. His deduction skills are awesome that's why the police often seek his help, and they're thankful whenever he is in the crime scenes. He is famous and dubbed as the great high school detective west, Shinichi Kudo, my childhood friend.

"Don't you know that it's rude to stare?" he said and smile. He slowly opens his eyes and meets my gaze, our eyes lock. Once again I was lost in those deep blue mysterious eyes of him. He cupped my face, I can feel that I am blushing right now, my cheeks feel so hot. Then he poke my forehead, instantly I am transported back here in front of him from my sudden visit to dreamland.

"What's that for? Ssh...it hurts," I hissed.

"Making fun with you?" he answered with a playful smile all over his face.

"Making fun with me? Okay, let's have fun. My. own. way," I said while I'm glaring at him.

"Uh..uh.." he stand up quickly and hid in the bookshelves.

"Shinichi, come out. If you won't, then try your best and don't let me catch you," I said fiercely in a low voice. He knows that when I use that tone I'm already pissed off.

"Uhm, I'm sorry. It's not really what I intended to do. The truth is --" I heard him sigh. "I really wanted to kiss you right there but I'm afraid you're going to punch me. So, instead of kissing you I just poked your forehead," he explained in a low voice, enough for me to hear.

"Shi..ni..chi.." I gritted my teeth. My gosh! he's embarrassing me, it's lucky that it is just the two of us in this area.

"I'm sorry Ran, it's just that---" he paused for a bit. "I can't help it but---" he really lost words to say. He's still at the back of the shelves where I'm leaning.

*

"Shinichi," I whisper.

"Hey, Missie, wake up. You're dreaming." I heard someone waking me up. I feel someone's hand on my shoulder and gently shaking me, I slowly open my eyes. I saw an unfamiliar dark handsome face looking down on me with a worried look. Maybe he's the one waking me up. I roam my eyes around the place, I'm here in the library, in Shinichi's favorite spot. Shinichi's not here, so, maybe this guy is right I am really dreaming.

"Are you alright? It's a good thing I pass this area looking for a book," he said.

"Yeah, I'm alright. Thank you."

"You're calling Shinichi, is he your boyfriend?" I stiffened by his question. Maybe he realize he asked an out-of-the-line question. "Sorry for asking, you don't have to answer it," giving me a half-smile.

"It's okay, he is a friend," I answer him with a sad smile.

"Why look so---" he didn't finish what he was going to say when someone called him.

"Heiji, what are you doing there? Oh! You're with someone, who is she?" the girl who just came asked.

"Uhm, I just wake her up, she's dreaming when I come here," he said to the girl. "By the way, I'm Heiji Hatori and this is my friend Kazuha Toyama," he offers his hand for a handshake.

I accepted it and introduce myself to them. "Ran Mouri, nice meeting you two. I think I have to go. And I'm sorry for disturbing you." I said while looking into my watch. It's already late, I'm sure Sonoko is worried about me. I wave to them and turn to leave but someone grabs my hand.

I turn to see who it was.

"Anything else?" I asked Heiji-kun.

"You knew Kudo Shinichi, right? The Great Highschool Detective of the West?" He asked while still holding my hand.

"Y-yeah?" I answered in a confused manner.

"Just like what he said, he is Hatori Heiji and The Great Detective of the East." The girl whose name is Kahuza said. She leaned in the door and cross her arms while raising an eyebrow looking at my wrist.

"What do want with Shinichi?" I asked eyeing the girl from the corner of my eyes but fixing my gaze at the guy holding my wrist still.

"He's quite popular so I wanted to meet him and check if he's really that great of deducing crimes." He answered.

"Oh! I'm sorry to inform you but Shinichi is not around. He's been busy this past few months. He didn't even contact me to inform me where he is." I made sure that I sounds convincible enough. There is no need for them to know that Shinichi has been missing for months now.

"I see, can you please inform me if Kudo decided to show up or when he contacted you?" He said letting go of my wrist.

"Ahm - "

"Can I talk to you in a minute, alone?" Kazuha said and drag me outside the library while Hatori-kun is calling her name and asking what was going on.

"What do you want to talk about?" I ask Kazuha when she stops dragging me.

"I just want to let you know that Heiji and I have this strong bond. And I don't want anyone to come and interfere with that kind of bond." She said with a scary look.

"You mean you two are dating?" I asked innocently.

"N-no, n-no, i-it's not like that." She answered embarrassed and a tinted of pink started to form her cheek. "What I mean is we are best friends and he's like a brother to me."

"I see," I nodded. "You don't have to worry, I don't have plans on meddling your relationship with him." I smiled.

"Okay then, here's my number." She gave me her number and I gladly accepted it. "Inform me if you got info about Kudo and I will be the one to inform Heiji. By the way, what's your relationship with Kudo? Are you his girlfriend?"

"Ah, no!" I almost shouted. "He is my childhood friend."

"But you like him, don't you?" My eyes grow wide with the statement. "It's obvious the way you talk about him. Now, that I confirm that you are not a threat with me and Heiji, I will be glad to be your friend, Ran." Kazuha smile.

"I will be glad too, Kazuha."
