She was awake now, with eyes wide open.
"What was that?" She whispered when she noticed that Logen sat by her side, and hold her hand.
"It must be the beast." Logen said, still holding her hand.
He went out and after a while, then he came back with a hot cup of tea in full armor with the same sword as his dad had in his belt. The armor was so shiny. He had a dobble life at Ammon. He worked at the kitchen, but first of all, he was a soldier of Ammon. He was and would always be proud of his kingdom. She looked at him with new respect. It was something magic with it. Maybe it was the magic to beat The Beast with.
"You need some protection too." he opened her wardrobe.
He touched a button in the right corner, and the wall of the wardrobe opened. All of her new clothes went behind the wall, and a new outfit showed up.
"This was my mother's armor" he explained.
"Pretty cool, heh? She was a soldier before me and my sisters were born. Well, she quit when I was five, so she could spend more time with me. I know how it is to be a soldier, it means you have to leave your everything. Your job, your family, your friends"
"And your point is."
"My point is that I want you to have it."
He looked at her with expectation. Witch she of course understood, but armor wasn't her thing. And that's what she said.

"Eh...armor isn't really my thing" she said quiet. "I don't deserve it nor do I know anything about it." shehoped she wouldn't regret.
"Oh, okay, I mean...you don't have to wear it if you don't want to."
She could hear in his voice he was deeply hurt. It was his mother's armor. After all she knew he loved her very much, so when she died, it took parts of his beautiful heart away.
His eyes went red. A tear rolled down his face as he walked out of her room. She couldn't see it, but she felt it. Armor isn't really my thing, sorry I don't like it. Stupid! He's hurt and it's all my fault. She sat down on her bed for a while. She really hoped Gray wouldn't notice it too much. What would he say if he knew she had hurt him. What was she thinking, of course he would notice it. She knew he would 've been angry. Okay, it wasn't her style, but you'll never know. One day it might be useful. She though for a while. Why not. Just to make up to him, if it's possible.
The longer she looked at it, the cooler it looked. And after a while again looking at it, she was convinced.
One by one, she took pieces of the armor on. Besides, it could be useful against The Beast.
"You look like you're ready for war." a voice behind her said.
In that moment she took on the helmet.
It was Gray.
"Oh! I'm sorry. I should probably take it off..."
"No. Don't. He gave it to you for a reason." his smile was fake. His eyes didn't lie. Of course he wanted her to take it off. Why did he support her?

When she went down to the others, she noticed Logen. His head was raised high and his eyes shined like the sun. On his face, was a big, bright smile. And in that second, she knew she was forgiven.

With no warning, a giant beast jumped out of the forest with a great eathquick. It was twice as big as all of the houses. And it's roar made them bump into each other in fear. It was the biggest and most terrifying roar she'd ever heard. And when she looked out, she had nightmares for weeks. In years she had flashbacks on the terrible sight.
It was just like Sarah described it. It had big, white, teeth, and was hairy. It's fur was black. But when the moon shined on it, it kinda seemed a little brown. It's eyes was red and furious. The frightening sight went back and forth like if it watched if someone dared to come out of their homes. It sniffed here and there till it stood silent like a statue. He didn't even blink. It's eyes was at Logen. Whey had eye to eye contact. Like if it had decided it's victim. They looked at each other for many minutes. Suddenly, The Beast flew towards their house in a long jump, scratched a big hole in the roof. Even when they tried to hide as best as they could, it found them easly. And with a big claw, he took Logen and put him into his big mouth. It was so big and dangerous. And it's claws were big too of course. The nails was long and sharp. She couldn't do anything, she could only stand there, and watch how The Beast pressed it's giant body out of the damaged roof.
"Beast! You're gonna pay for this!" She screamed with all the strength her lunges was able to give her. The Beast turned around and met her eyes. The evil deep inside it's eyes made her cover her face.
"My son! You're a beast straight from Hell!" Gray yelled.
Of course he tried not to sound worried, but it didn't work, especially when he saw his son's lifeless body in it's gap. His wrists stuck between its teeth. She heard the sound of running feets and the feeling of a big earthquick. And when she removed her hands, it was gone, The Beast was gone, but somthing else was gone too.
"Logen!" Her voice yelled back to her as an echo.
"My son". He whispered it slowly. His voice failed, and he felt to his knees.
Not only did he lose his beloved wife and girls in the fire in Ammon, his surviving son was taken by a mighty beast. The doctors in town, said that his son got mad because he could'n handle the loss of his mother. The worst was that they had right. Logen was never the same after her death. They were best friends. If he should mention at least one of their lovely memories, it would be the episode in the garden.
The sun shined and Logen and his mother Madelen was playing in the garden. This was the time when she still worked at the gates of Ammon, together with Gray.
"Mum? Do you know what I want to do when I get older?"
"What honey?"
Her voice was kind and soft, like always.
"I want to be like you and daddy"

He could still hear the conversation in his head. If Logen should mention one of his biggest heroes, he would've mentioned Madelen. She was his biggest idol all the way. Even after she quit her job. He loved her more then anything. And when Gray looked at his attitude, he sounded more like himself when he was with his beloved one. Inside he knew it was right to let her stay. Even with the big hole in her bed room. No matter what happened, she was not allowed to sleep in his room.

She jumped out of the big hole in the roof, and ran down to the creepy forest as fast her feet allowed her. She breathed fast and hard into the cold air. And with all of what was left of her voice, she shouted for the last time. No answer.
