As soon as I shut Olivia’s front door I was literally bombarded with questions. They wanted to know every single detail, and a play-by-play of what happened as well.

“Guys.” More questions. “Guys.” They kept coming. “GUYS. Can I at least put my stuff upstairs first?” They started laughing and Olivia helped carry my things and Lucy’s upstairs. When we were all parked someplace comfortable (on the carpet, in her desk chair, on the bed) the questions started up again. I told them that I just started walking to Olivia’s.

“I was just walking along, minding my own business. I was singing “Give Me Love” because it was stuck in my head and – OH! Olivia have you told her yet?!” I asked her, and Lucy’s eyes became wide.

“What, tell me what?” she begged.

“Jack was singing today, Luce. Singing!” Olivia said, her voice lit up with excitement. We filled her in on all of the details and she had yet even more questions, and finally we were all on the same page and I picked up where I left off.

“So I was singing, but I stopped when I saw Jack, and he just came up and started talking to me. Just out of the blue. He walked over to me and he asked what I was singing and when I told him he asked if I heard him singing – I said no so I didn’t look like a stalker – and then I asked him why he stopped but he changed the subject to my eyes. He looked, like, really close at them – like, he bent down to look – and so of course my stupid eyes turn purple like that-” I snapped my fingers as a demonstration “-and he just smiled and asked why I was embarrassed.” My friends were totally engrossed with my tale, so I kept going. “I just said that I didn’t know and that I had to go. And I said that maybe we should talk again sometime and he was like yeah I’d like that, and then I left.” I sighed through my delighted smile, and fell backwards onto Olivia’s soft comforter. The two of them climbed up beside me as we chatted about the entire encounter, and about why Jack would suddenly start singing.

“Why now? Why today?” Lucy wondered aloud, to no one in particular. I shrugged.

“What is he doing now?” Olivia asked the ceiling fan above her bed. No one made a move to look, so I hefted myself up with my elbows.

“Don’t all jump at once. I guess I’ll look.” I walked over to Olivia’s large window, which had a perfect view of the street, and the entire front of the Thompson’s house. “He’s not on the porch anymore.” I said, my breath fogging up the window. I was about to turn away, disappointed, when I saw a flash of something bright in one of the upstairs windows. I stared at it, its curtains wide open, and nearly fainted when I saw what I did. My eyes widened, and I flung myself away from the window, breathing heavily. I sat down against the wall, smiling and almost having a mini heart attack.

“The hell was that?” Olivia asked, bewildered. Lucy ran to the window but I know she saw nothing. The blinds over there were now closed.

“Holy…..crap….” I squeaked.

“There’s nothing there…?” Lucy said, looking at me like I had two heads.

“I saw Jack…through his bedroom window…and he was….” I stopped, grinning like mad.

“What? What did he do?!” Olivia urged, smiling almost as wide as me.

“He was changing his shirt!” I whisper-yelled, and my face blushed a deep rose, my eyes copying it almost exactly.

“But his blinds are closed. How did you see?” Lucy rushed.

“Well they were open, but he closed them…when he saw me looking.” I put my hands over my face, and I heard my friends cackling at my embarrassment. “Oh my God, why does this always happen to me?” I groaned.
