Coco barked loudly while I sat back in my Pope Of Power Moves chair. "I know Coco, how's he gonna pull this off?" She leaped into my lap as I logged onto Minecraft.
Natalie's POV-
The next morning I woke up with a smile. I was gonna meet him.
I guess my mood was a little too cheery for my mother who thought something suspicious was happening.
"Something wrong, sweetie?" She asked as I walked down to the finally unpacked kitchen.
"Do you think when I'm happy, something's up?" I scoffed.
My mom sighed and went back to cutting potatoes for a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" banquet thing. "Just wondering, honey."
"Whatever, I'll go get the newspaper. I might come back a little later, though!" I threw on a jacket and walked out to the front steps.
The whole neighborhood was under a blanket of packed white snow. Cars covered in a thick layer of the white stuff seemed invisible. It had been so long since I had played in the snow but I was only in pajama pants and a jacket....
I heard a voice yell. It didn't sound scared or sad it sounded happy. Two young boys ran down the front stairs of the house two doors to the right of mine. Both had matching jackets and hats, and walked like babies in their thick snow gear.
"Mitch let's make a snowman!!" one of them called into the house.
"Yeah, yeah! Can we????????" the other one smiled.
Mitch walked down the steps of the house, a big red shovel over his shoulder. He was dressed in a black pea coat and pants that blended with the snow. His large snow boots made him walk a little slower and sloppier than normal but still was radiating total hotness even in the freezing snow.
"Sure but don't build it on driveway doods, I'm shoveling."
One of the kids started to gather snow in his tiny palms. "You're the best, Mitch! Why can't you always babysit us?"
"Oh, I have to go do my job." Mitch thrust the shovel into the ground and picked up a large pile of snow.
The other kid looked up. "You have a job? What is it?"
Mitch looked at the ground and smiled. Was that a sad smile I saw? "Youtube. I do videos for people."
"Woah. That's awesome. You must have a lot of fans."
'And a hella lot of fangirls too.' I thought.
The Canadian tossed another pile of snow off to the side of the driveway, his eyes flickered upon seeing me. He smiled and threw his shovel over his shoulder yet again and walked over to me.
My hands were sweating like crazy. Can that even happen in the middle of freaking winter? Nervousness swirled down my spine. What if I said something totally wrong? What if I mess up? What if he just thinks I'm another girl in this massive world? I can't think about that now.
"Hey. What's up? Natalie, right?"
"Yea. Mitch, right? Nothing much. Just happy there's snow here. I never got much snow where I used to live." Half-lie... I lived in Seattle before I moved. It snowed when it wanted. Which wasn't too often.
"Lucky. I basically grew up in snow, living in Canada and all." He was talking to me below the railing of the deck. It felt weird to look down on someone. Like they were a peasent and you were royalty.
"One sec." I held up my pointer finger and ran down the stairs. I was staring almost eye-to-eye with him but he was pretty tall.
"That's better. I like it when I can actually see your face." He smiled and scratched behind his ear. IS EVERYTHING HE DOES THIS CUTE?!?!
I must have been blushing brighter than a cherry tomato. "You flatter me."
"No really. I've never met someone as pretty as you in a long time. Excuse me if I'm coming off too strong."
OMG 19 YEAR OLD FEELINGS EXPLODING WITH HAPPINESS RIGHT NOW. "Thank you. I've never been complimented by someone so handsome." I covered my mouth with a cupped hand immediately. 'Dammit Nat.'
As a joke Mitch bowed overenthusiastically. "You flatter me, m' lady."
Mitch glanced over quickly at the two boys building what I guess was their version of a snow man. A large body, small midsection and a head made out of a bucket. The snow catastrophy was pretty humorous and a quick laugh escaped my mouth. My laughs had always sounded horrible. I really hoped that Mitch didn't think that.
"Who are those kids?" I couldn't help but ask.
"Twins. Marcus and Martin. Total and utter trouble makers. Can't leave them alone for a second with them breaking something. But they're the two greatest kids ever, plus the parents pay really well when I babysit."
"Can't imagine why." I joked.
Mitch and I laughed. I felt like a 12 year old girl again, laughing and talking my cares and worries with what felt like a life-long friend, but who really was a future boyfriend.
After only half an hour, the conversation slowly died like a small fire. Mitch and I moved to sit at the front steps of the boy's house and kept an eye on the twins. The sun shined happily through the gray, dead clouds. I looked all around me, at Mitch, at the boys, at my new house and I thought with a smile that maybe everything was going to turn out fine.
