8 months earlier-
Staring up at the ceiling, Natalie breathed out a loud sigh, letting her phone slide off her chest and fall onto her red comforter. Why did her dad have to die so early? That was the question. He had died 3 weeks prior and Natalie was really feeling the pain.
Just when the tears burned in the back off her eyes, a text beeped on her phone. "BF <3". Finally, someone who she could count on to rant with. Sliding the "lock" open and putting in the 4 number password, Natalie tapped the Messages app. What she saw was completely unlike what she thought she would see.
"Nat, I used to love u. We used to have such fun times together, but now the luv is dying. I know ur going through a lot right now but it's not working for me. Im sorry nat, but this relationship isn't working. It's been a long time since we've been on a date and Im just not interested in u anymore. Im with another girl now. Again, Nat im sorry hon' but this just will never work out. hope u find another lover- Matthew :|"
Shit. That was all Natalie could think at that exact moment. That was all that was running through her head. The one boyfriend she thought that she could be together with turned out not being her fantasy at all. She would never find another guy as hot as Matthew ever again and would never get another boyfriend as long as she lived. It sounded so childish in Natalie's head, being angry that a guy totally hotter than you broke up with you for a better girl and it was.
The tears burned as they rolled down her cheeks. Her life couldn't have been worse at that point in time. And then her mom said they were moving. OK WORLD. OKAY. You can stop being Satan now thanks.
Her mom walked in a few minutes after Natalie's tears dried, a depressed look almost glazed onto her face. Sometimes Natalie thought her mom was more depressed than her, having to pay the bills and keep working even though she can barely keep up already. It's how Natalie's life was.
With pain on her face, her mom sighed. "We're moving Natalie. It's for the better. I'm sorry Nat, it's how God wanted this point in our life to be."
The fact she was moving wasn't making her emotions any better. But she was so sad that it didn't matter. Natalie swore she wouldn't get anything positive out of the move to the new house.
Present Day- Natalie POV
"Mitch, Mitch, Mitch, click on the fish eye one!" I laughed, pointing at the bowl shaped filter on the computer.
It was a beautiful day in early March, the sun was out and the clouds dazed lazily above the sky. Mitch and I were sitting on the grass outside his house, his laptop sitting on the ground in front of the two of us, the Photobooth app open to the filters section.
"Alright, alright, Natalie!" Mitch laughed. He smiled and clicked on the Fisheye filter. I giggled (like a 2-year-old UGH) and watched my eyes shrink and grow as I moved my head back and forth before the camera.
Mitch looked at the ground and smiled, running his hand through his tousled hair which is like naturally hot, no matter what. He moved the mouse over to the camera and it counted down from 3. Mitch casually wrapped his right arm around my shoulder and I obliged by happily leaning into his chest.
I clicked on the photo and smiled.
"Here let's do a stupid one." Mitch laughed. With no shame, he bit his lip in probably the weirdest way I've ever seen before and went cross eyed. I couldn't help it and started laughing.
Then the dumbest idea came to my mind. "I've got an even better one." I stated.
"Oh yea? Prove it." He teased, winking at the sight of my smile.
"I can't show you until you click the camera button!" I was feeling flirtatious.
I clicked on the camera button and Mitch posed, running his left hand through his hair and making the weirdest face like ever. 3-2... I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. His eyes widened and a smile happier then a two-year-old appeared on his face.
He wrapped both of his arms around me and everything was perfect.
"Mitchell Hughes?" I asked, looking into his dazzling eyes.
He smiled and looked into my eyes. "Yea Nat?"
"I love you."
"I love you too."
