Chapter Three

I woke up the next morning to sunlight casting over my face through the water, I cracked my eyes open and swam up.

The aquarium was closed today, so I didn't have to fret over pictures and stress and large crowds.

No matter how much I wanted to leave here, I couldn't. I didn't want to hurt my friends, the people who worked here.

Do they consider me a friend? Or am I just another experiment? My mind instantly filled with foul thoughts of them, wondering if they had been using me this whole time.

Now I realize how much I want to leave, to escape, to swim in the ocean forever, and to be around that boy, Armin.

No! I can't be with him, I don't like him that way! He is cute though... What am I thinking!

I sighed and looked at the tag on my fin, there are only a few workers here on a closed day, none of which are in my section.

I looked around, planning my escape. I should be able to get the tag off somehow? It was made of plastic, so it wouldn't rip my fin from weight, so I should be able to break it, right?

I sat myself on a rock and began pulling at the tag, but the plastic was molded together. I broke off a piece of the coral plant next to me and tried to break it with that but no avail.

My tail wasn't very thin, but it was worth a shot. I shakily grabbed the tag, and pulled it as hard and fast as I could, the tag ripped off, leaving me with a ripped fin and a lot of pain.

Ignoring the terrible feeling in my fin, and I smiled to myself.

I did it, now I can finally leave!

I looked at the tag and swam to the corner of the tank, my tail fin still hurting but luckily not bleeding.

I began digging a hole, and placed the tag in it, and began sweeping the sand overtop it. I sighed, and looked around the tank one last time before swimming above the water.

When I reached it I placed my hands on the top of the thick wall and looked down, there was a large drop off before there was ocean water, so even if I wanted to come back I wouldn't be able to, not like I wanted to.

I began pulling myself over the edge with my arms, using all the strength I had to get on top of it.

I began dragging myself over the wall before finally, without hesitation, falling into the water.

I swam around, getting used to the cold water, and looked up at the large wall and smiled.

Without another thought I plunged down into the water and swam away.

Sorry for the short chapter! The signs of writers block have already been forming on the third chapter.

That's not good.
