She Was There

She was lonely but she was there
For everyone that needed her

She gave them her shoulder

She took all their punches

She swallowed their pain

She absorbed all their tears

When they were done,
All fixed up and healed
They'd toss her to the next person

She was lonely but she was there
For everyone that needed her

They took what they needed
She never asked for anything in return

But what a fool was she
For she couldn't see that the more she fixed others
The more she'd break herself

She'd meet a thousand faces
Who she'd never see again

She'd heal a thousand wounds
Her own she'd never tend

She was lonely but she was there
For everyone that needed her

She was lonely but

She was there
