Scarlet woke up with a pounding in her head. "Where am I" she thought. Then, she had a realization, she remembered everything the crash, the shard of glass in her leg, oh, the pain she thought as she looked at her leg. Scarlet's face became very unpleasent because she saw that the shard of glass was actually in her leg. She tried not to panic as she slowly and gently tried to pull the piece of glass out of her leg. Suddenly she let out a loud ear shreaking scream.
Scarlet was in tears as she took a deep breath and calmed herself down. Then she pulled slowly one final time. Instantly she felt a million times better. She grabbed the black rough leather belt tied around her waist and tightened it around her leg. Scarlet got up and started running in the direction she thought was north. Where her family lived or what was left of it. She began running so fast she could barely breath, but it was worth it because she saw her aunt's car in the distance. Scarlet felt this overwhelming feeling of saddness emptiness that she did not yet understand. When she got to the car she knew why she felt empty and alone. As she saw her aunt's lifeless body in the front seat. Her aunt's red long curly hair was beautiful as always and her green soul piercing eyes where glazed over and lifeless. Scarlet felt the tears streaming down her cheek as she saw the large shard of glass piercing her aunt's heart. Scarlet couldn't take it she turned and started to walk away.
Then something in the back seat caught her eye. She opened the backdoor with her eyes filled with tears and she saw a backpack, a blanket, and a empty water bottle. Scarlet was grateful for these simple things because without them she wouldn't survive. She decided she would find a tree to sleep under for the night. After what felt like an eternity of searching to Scarlet she found the perfect tree it was a willow tree. Scarlet sat down and wrapped the blanket around her. She fell into a deep sleep, but was awoken by a high pitched unusual noise. It wasn't a scary noise or anything it was kind of peaceful.

Scarlet awoke from her sleep again it was morning now. Her throat was sore and she was dying for cold glass of crystal clear water. It felt like she was being choked by a demon of some kind. The feeling of hunger consumed her it was if she was being eaten from the inside out. Scarlet's mind kept blaming her mom and dad, because it was easier than blaming herself. Every inch of her body filled with anger and resent towards her family. The feeling in her eyes was saddness it was like she was empty inside, like something was missing, like nobody could save her from the dark hole she was falling down. Scarlet's heart still had a gleme of hope. Scarlet was overwhelmed with so many different emotions. Then everything went black.
