~Nick Parker~

"Nick! Nick! Come on bro, are you gonna throw it or not?" Trey complained at my lack of attention in our 3rd round of darts.

"I'm gonna throw it at your head if you don't shut up." I threatened and cocked my arm back, pretending like I was going to actually do it.

"Woah man, no need to kill me with darts just because your secret girlfriend isn't here ." Trey smirked with a cocky tilt of the head that we both did pretty well.

"Oh, gross." Courtney piped up from the couch.

"Jealous, Courtney?" Trey asked, laughing at Courtney now.

She picked up the pillow she was laying on and threw it at him with disgust. Trey easily caught it and threw it back.

"Hey, be nice with those my Grandma made them!" I yelled at my immature friends and caught one pillow, that was thrown by Courtney, in mid-air with my wide reciever hands.

"Oh, my apologies Granny P." Trey said placing the pillow gently on the couch, "And on that note my mamma's probably wondering where I am at 11:30 at night."

"Later, Meyers." I said to Trey giving him a bro hug and closing the door behind him.

"Trey's an asshole, sorry about your pillows." Courntey said after I closed the door. She was lounging on the couch in a familiar suggestive position.

"It's cool, I was just messing around, they're from the dollar store." I said laughing and picking up a pillow to throw at her.

"Jerk," Courtney said, bashing her eyelids and grinning mischieviously.

I sat down on the other end of the couch without saying anything.

"So are you really dating that East girl?" She said, breaking the silence.

"No," I said, not even noticing the hint of sadness in my voice, "We're just friends, well, I don't know if even that now."

"What happened?" Courtney pushed on.

"Well, she saw me with Trey at Wendy's earlier today and I think it freaked her out because she thought I was smoking." I admitted.

"Why don't you just tell her you weren't?" Courtney suggested.

"And tell her what I was really doing there?" I said doubtfully, "I think it's better if she thinks I was just smoking it, drug dealers aren't the most attractive people."

"Well, I think you're pretty damn attractive," Courtney said.

She sat up then and we were suddenly really close on the couch.

"We have school tomorrow." I said, my face inches from hers.

"Since when do you care about school?" She grinned and pressed her lips to mine, slowly at first.

But hey, we're two single teenagers, slow wasn't going to last long.

~Taylor Winters~

I woke up the next day feeling sad, anxious, and alone to be completely honest.

I sent Logan home a few minutes after we hugged and I was in this offshore beach house (it was more of a shack actually) all by myself.

It was strange, I didn't know if I enjoyed the eerie silence or if it consumed me so much that I was beginning to convince myself that I enjoyed it.

I threw on a cute blouse and drove to school early to make it on time.

It was a strange day.
