I wake up to a loud thumping in the hallway. Isaac speeds past my bedroom door and darts down the stairs. Next dad walks past and peeks into my room. I pop my head out from under the warm blankets and Dad switches the light on. "Morning." He mutters. "Morning, are you gong to work today?" I yawn. "Yes? Why do you ask?" he sighs. I think he knows why I'm asking, he got a bit drunk last night and I thought he would stay home due to hangover. I get out of bed and straighten my sheets until Dad appears behind me looking over my shoulder. "I asked you a question" He says sternly looking at me. "Um, what?" I scowl. "Why did you ask why I'm going to work?" He raises an eyebrow. I start to think of what to say when he interrupts my thoughts. "It's not a rhetorical question Phoebe. I wasn't that drunk last night" He reads my mind. "I will meet you downstairs" He walks out my room. I don't think my dads being mean, he's just being a typical dad, I hope.

Once I've made my bed I meet my family downstairs. Isaac is watching cartoons while eating his favorite breakfast, jam on toast. Dad sits there slowly scooping porridge into his mouth while mum is making a coffee. "Morning hun" Mum smiles. "I've made your lunch, nutella sandwiches, your favorite!" She grins wider. "Morning Mum. Thanks!" I shiver since it is a chilly morning.  I sit down next to Dad and stare at him. He turns his head at looks up. "You alright?" He asks. "Um, yeah" I say awkwardly looking away. I notice wrapping paper scattered across the lounge floor. There was also a brand new basketball, a book, lollies and three video games. A thought springs into my head, today is Isaac's birthday. I run over to him. I wrap my arms around his neck. "Happy birthday Isaac" I squeeze him. I give him kissy faces as a joke until he nudges me off him, typical Isaac. "Thanks" he says not even looking at me, what do you expect out of a disrespectful sibling like him? He hasn't hugged me for three years I think. He doesn't like me that much but deep down I know he loves me. That's what I say to tease him, he gets really annoyed so it must be true!

After breakfast I head over to Nicks. I kick my feet in the thick frost over the grass and watch vehicles zoom past me creating a wind source. "MY COUNTER PART, WE MEET AGAIN!" I hear a goofy voice call seconds later. I turn my head to see Caleb in the distance on his knees like he is about to propose to someone. I start laughing on the spot. When I catch up to Caleb we walk up Nicks doorstep.  I knock and hear footsteps crawl up to the door. Nick open it dramatically. "Hi guys come into my temple" Nick joked but couldn't help but chuckle a little afterwards. We settle down on Nick's creme coloured couch as he assigns us with an Xbox controller each. "Free for all!" I smile. "Your on!" Nick makes a fist. We play Call Of Duty for a couple minutes when Nick and Caleb tie as first and I come in two points behind. I swear those guys have similar abilities! "Okay guys, time to leave" Nick says rising from the couch and snatching the controllers out our hands. "Auto-bots move out!" Caleb says deeply. As we move out Nick's front door.

Once we arrive at school I say my goodbye's to Nick and Caleb and move over to my classroom. I am now in year 7 of intermediate, but I still go to Twin Peaks. Twin Peaks is a joint school of elementary, intermediate and college. When I am close to my classroom I feel a tap on my shoulder and I slowly turn around. Then the person grabs my shoulders and legitimately twists me around. I see small little Isaac standing there (He goes to the same school as me but in the elementary department). "I hate you." He says in a mournful way. "Why?" I sigh looking down at him pathetically. "It's my birthday and you don't even walk to school with me. You go with your stupid friends. I'm telling mum" He frowns in despair. "Yup, go ahead" I chuckle and walk away. He's 9 years old and acts like he is still 5. Little brothers are so annoying. When I get to class Shanita greets me and so does my friends Bailey and Leah. You might remember Shanita and Bailey from year 5. Bailey is still in my class and Shanita moved into my class too. Leah is a girl in my class who I met this year. Olivia and Naomi on the other hand are not in my class anymore. Olivia is in another class and Naomi's parents decided to send her to a different intermediate school. A shower of rain pilled down on me as I lugged my textbooks from my schoolbag and I ran into class for maths and then english.

Morning tea came by and the weather had calmed down. I went over to the handball courts to meet Nick. I don't usually play handball because I'm not good at it but it's great to give it a try now and then. I stand next to a boy in line with dark brown eyes and messy dark brown hair. He is in Nick's class and I'm pretty sure his name is Myles. I remember meeting him in primary on sports day. "Hi" I scooted over beside him. "Oh, hey" He switched from a daydream to looking at me. "You any good at handball?" He asked. "Nope, my friend Nick plays so I like coming to come play too" I reply. "Oh cool. Nick is in my class, he's my friend. He's told me things about you and I also remember meeting you on sports day.. I-I think?" He says. "Yeah that was me you met on sports day" I smile. Rain starts plowing down again. The speaker sounded across the whole school while the principal spoke. "Everyone head back to your classes and then to the hall. Thunder is coming and lightning may occur" The speaker call ended and people screamed as thunder pounded just after the call ended. "Did you watch the news?" Myles looked at me. "No why?" I scratch my head. "Thunder storms and lightning on the weather forecast. They even said there is risk of a tornado" He panics. A gush of worry runs through me. "Oh crap" I say. Nick comes over to me. "See ya" He grins. "Bye Nick... and myles" I give them a thumbs up. Once I get in class we have a roll call then got put in lines to head to the hall. I stood next to Shanita and Bailey. "Crazy storms happening!" Shanita shivered. "I hate lightning" Bailey replied. Outside of class worried voices swarmed through the air and it was complete chaos. I mean, with an elementary school and a middle school plus a college put together there is a lot of classrooms and students. My class scrambled down to the hall getting drenched by rain. Now and again people would jump in fright or even stop walking in fear as lightning shot down. I got squished between many students as we got jostled over to the hall. Once we arrived in the hall we sat down in lines as the weather got worse outside. The hall was freezing cold since it was such a big building in order to fit so many students. It was loud in there with voices and people were other worried or excited. It's weird how people get excited over storms? I even glanced over to the other side of the hall to see Myles, he looked pretty excited. Although Nick was sitting next to him and he didn't look to happy.

After minutes of chaos the school stopped to silence as the loudest thunder ever bashed. I think I even felt the floor vibrate. A second after the thunder particles and wood were flying toward me and everyone. A bright blue light shattered through the ceiling making everyone squint because of it's blazing vividness. Screams and screeches filled the room as the light moved around the room striking people like it had enemies, all off them seemed to scatter away and dodge it. The light then died down. Derby covered the floor with a big gaping hole in the ceiling. It fell to silence. I can't believe it. Lightning just shot through the ceiling. I looked around and nearly everyone's eyes WEREN'T settled on the ceiling instead they were looking at something else across the room. I looked across the hall to see another small blue light glowing. A boy sat down with his whole body beaming an intense colour of blue. His body fell to the ground and the light faded as he turned back to a normal human, except an unconscious one. Everyone leapt off the bleaches and crowded around the boy. I ran down and managed to nudge past some people in the crowd. I went onto my tiptoes to get a better view. The boy lying down was lifeless. His sandy blonde hair covering his eyes. I then came to the crazy realization that this boy was Nick.
