Dawson
Just after Matt ran out of the house my phone rang.
"Dawson" I said
"Hi Dawson I'm Rachel calling from the Chicago Fire Academy. We got sent your scoring from your classes in Massachusetts. You completed everything except your final exam? Why's that?" She asked me as I stood there slightly shocked
"I ah had a major personal thing come up" I said to her
"Are you still interested in becoming a fire fighter?" she asked me
"I ah guess so" I said shocked I heard her laugh over the line
"a little shocked?" She asked me
"Yeah I guess I wasn't expecting this to happen" I told her
"We'd need you to sit a couple of tests that we do here but other than that, you'd be free to join the current candidate class in three weeks at their final test" She said
"oh wow ah ok" I said
"Great, I will email you over the times you need to be here for the test and the time for the final test. Have you got turn out gear?" She asked me
"No I don't" I said to her gripping the counter for support
"I will get that sorted for you as well" she said
"Ok well thank you" I said as she hung up.
"What was that?" Asked Shay suddenly behind me
"Ah a Rachel from the academy here. They got my results from Massachusetts I never went though the final exam but she's offered for me to compete it with the currently candidates" I said to her as she looked at me
"Shut the front door!" She said
"What I just walked through it!" Yelled Kelly walking over
"no no not you!" She said looking at me
"For real?" she asked me as I nodded
"is there anything you haven't done and how the hell did you fit all this in, in what 7 year?" She asked me as I laughed
"no social life is a good place to start" i told her as Kelly walked over to us
"What's up and where's Casey at?" he asked looking around
"He got a call from he's Lawyer and ran out of here like a bat out of hell" i told them
"I'm ah sitting my final test with the current group of Candidates" I said to Kelly
"You went through the academy?" he asked me
"In Massachusetts. I applied for both at the same time, I got knocked back by the Fire Academy first round and went with the paramedics and about 3 months later I got a letter saying I'd been accepted went thought the though thing come the last day I ended up in....... not being able to make it" i said trying to cover my slip up
"Oh that's a shame, we could have had you as a firefighter!" said Kelly opening the fridge before grabbing a drink
"So yeah they're sending me dates and what not but it looks good for becoming a candidate!" I said excited.
Tonight Kelly cooked us dinner, leaving Matt's in the oven since he wasn't back yet. I was worried but I shouldn't be right, we're only house mates. It was close to 9 when I went to bed it didn't take me long to fall asleep.
