Autumn's P.O.V.
I stayed seated on the couch, listening to my music as I anticipated the text from Fletcher. I was starting to feel uncomfortable in the house for some reason. The Johnson's hadn't mentioned anything that I should be worried about. I thought about giving them a call to ask questions, but they had just left a few hours ago. The sun had already almost set, which honestly made it worse for me. I hate the dark."Stomp! Stomp!"
I jumped up from my seat on the couch, my heart picking up speed at the loud thudding noise coming from upstairs. I was not going up there on my own.
"Fletcher where are you?" I whispered to myself afraid someone or something might hear me.
"What am I talking about, there's no one here." I said to reassure myself. There's nothing to worry about, I said to myself as I heard a loud knock on the front door, which by the way scared the crap out of me!
I got up quickly from the couch and practically ran to the door. I unlocked the heavy lock that keeps the door shut tightly, from any trespassers. I turned the knob and saw both my brother and best friend behind the giant door. I ran and hugged them both in a tight hug.
"It's nice to see you too Autumn." Jennifer said with a chuckle. I rolled my eyes and pulled them into the house.
"Shut up you know I'm excited to see you." She laughed and gave me another hug.
"I know, I know." She stuck her tongue out, smiling as she walked passed me into the main room from the entrance. Fletcher stared at her as she walked into the other room and I laughed closing the door making sure to lock it.
"I see you still haven't gotten over your crush on her." I said a little louder than intended, but it was okay Jennifer was too far away to hear. Fletcher gave me a death glare, causing me once again to laugh.
"Shut up before she hears you, she hasn't found out yet and I'd like to keep it that way for a while."
"If you keep her waiting she'll probably move on." I commented with a smile before walking back into the living room.
"By the way you were right about this house being creepy. I heard some thumping upstairs above the living room." I turned around to see if he followed me and he did.
"Wait what? Did you say she's waiting for me to ask her?" He questioned looking at me.
"Why don't you find out." I said rolling my eyes.
"Anyways as I was saying, before being rudely interrupted," I gave him a glare before continuing, "I get a bad feeling about this house. The Johnson's didn't give us any reason to turn down taking care of the house."
"First of all, you are taking care of this house, but since I'm your big brother and love you so so dearly I decided to be nice and help you out." He said with a smirk.
"You're such an ass!" I said laughing as he came and tackled me.
"Stop it you're weird!" I yelled giggling as he tickled me, until I gained strength to push him off because I was gonna die from lack of oxygen.
"You're weird." He said back, plopping down on the couch. I sat down next to him, just as Jennifer made her way into the same room.
"This house is so cool." She said looking at everything in the living room before sitting down next to my brother. He scooted over a little bit so that he wasn't to close to her. He gets so nervous if she accidentally brushes against his arm or hand, she does it on purpose sometimes because she does know that he likes her. He just doesn't think she does.
"Oh Autumn I forgot to tell you that Leo and Hunter are coming in a few minutes. They asked if I could come hang out tonight but I asked them to come here instead. I hope that's okay." He said with an apologetic smile.
"That's fine. The more the merrier." I said with a smile. My brother knows I have a huge crush on Leo, because I told him. I tell him everything! He's the only one besides Jennifer that I trust so dearly with everything. I've known Jennifer since Elementary and we've been going strong since.
"Stomp! Stomp!"
"What the hell was that?" Jennifer said looking around the living room for the noise.
"See I told you." I looked at Fletcher, waiting for a reaction.
"I never said I didn't believe you." He said looking at me, "Maybe it was something that fell over." As soon as he said that a small red ball bounced it's way into the living room. I looked up to see where it could've come from and my eyes grew wide at the dark silhouette that bounced the ball.
"Autumn what's wrong?" Fletcher asked standing up, grabbing my arm to shake me.
"S-something threw the b-ball from over t-there." I stuttered, not noticing that the figure had disappeared.
"There's nothing there Autumn." Fletcher said looking at me strangely.
"I swear there was a shape or figure there." I said still looking where I saw it.
"You're just seeing things, I'm pretty sure there's a reasonable explanation for the ball bouncing in here."
"Yeah but it bounced, and you have to throw it to bounce it." Jennifer said taking my side.
"You guys are being over dramatic." Fletcher said rolling his eyes walking back into the living room, "Yeah I know I said it's creepy and sketchy doesn't mean it actually is."
"Whatever you say Fletcher, we need to look for lights cause it's already almost pitch black in here." I said, starting to look for some switches, and with that I started to question if I did actually see something, maybe Fletcher's right.
