If you are auditioning for a play/skit/musical that has been filmed into a movie or such, watch the movie or make an effort to see the play. It will give you an idea of how to play the character you are auditioning for. But try not to copy the actor or actress's style exactly. You watch the movie to get an idea of your characters background, not to take the voice of someone else. Put on your own twist and unique voice when you audition. Directors are always looking for that.
