So, when you go to an audition, be sure to wear all black OR all white. I his allows the director to paint a character on you.
Let's say you instead showed up in boots, skinny jeans, and a crop top. The director will subconsciously think of you as a typical teenager and not cast you as the southern belle you wanted. Wearing neutral clothes makes it much harder for the director to judge you.
Put your hair in a ponytail if possible. At the very least, do not put your hair in an eccentric style. If at all possible, try not to dye your hair or chop it all off. But remember that everything depends on the part you are playing. But in any audition, you want to go as neutral as possible when it comes to your appearance.
