Maria..?

Its Been A While

Shadow woke up that next day. He looked over st his clock sitting on his counter to find it was 6:00 in the afternoon. "Six o'clock? You've got to be kidding me, I know I didn't sleep that long!" He got out of his bed and walked over to his desk where he had his medications to read them to see if any of the side affects were being sleepy.
Nauseating
Itching
Numbness in arms
Over sleeping
"Damn it! Ofcourse" He set his medications back down on his counter. Stared at them evil for a few seconds. "Why? Out of everything else I just had to over sleep? Ugh." He walked over to the window and opened it to look outside. The dusk sunlight shined onto his bright white chest furr, and into his deep red eyes.
"Eh, there's still a little sunshine out now. I might sit on my front step."
Shadow stretched, popping his chest out as he walked to his front door. No sooner than he grabbed his door knob to go outside, he hears a knock on his door. He opens it to find knuckles sitting on his front step, where he was about to sit.
"Wow! Coincidence."
Knuckles looked up at him confused, "what do you mean coincidence?"
"I was literally just about to sit out here!"
"Oh, well I guess I got here just in time!"
Shadow let out a small laugh, a small laugh he usually never lets out. More of a smirk, but a little more loud than normal. Knuckles even glanced at him in surprise, but he never said anything. "Yes, you made perfect timing knuckles."
Knuckles coughed and then looked over at the black hedgehog who was staring at the sunset that he just woke up to.
"I'm glad to see you coming out of your house again shadow."
Shadow still staring at the sunset nodded with agreement. "Hey knux do you have any more of those?"
Knuckles pulled out his cigarette packet. "Yeah I got a whole pack" Opening it, he gave shadow one and himself one, taking his lighter and lighting his and shadows cigarette.
"Thanks man." Shadow took a puff and blew the white smoke slowly out of his mouth.
"No problem." Knuckles checked his phone seeing a text message from rouge. He snickers reading it then starts typing the letters that appear on his screen.
"Isn't next week You and Rouges 4 month anniversary or something?" Shadow brought up noticing him and rouge were messaging back and forth.
"5 month. But yeah. Heh. She's at the mall with Amy right now."
"Amy?" Shadow replied.
"Yeah, Amy. I thought you knew Amy?" Knuckles puzzled by shadow.
"No I've never even heard of her name." He scratched the back of his quills.
"Well it's a guy- nah man I'm just kidding. Amy is. Well. She's Amy. Hold on I'll ask rouge for a pic of her and Amy so I can show you."
Shadow kind of just shrugged. I could care less if I seen her but okay. He thought to himself. He looked around him noticing little things like the tree in his front yard and his mail box and how he had a little roof on his porch. Man without everyone else I probably would've just been in a cave.
"Okay shadow this is Amy." Knuckles pulled up the picture from the text message. Shadow looked over his shoulder watching the picture load, and then seeing it loaded and fully appear. It was a pink hedgehog, emerald green eyes, red dress, kind of like the one that randomly came up behind him and hugged him.
"I've seen her somewhere before." Shadow continued staring at the picture.
"Huh? Where?"
"I swear. Yesterday a hedgehog who looked just like her came up behind me and hugged me, calling me sonic."
"Ah shit, she did that to silver too. Don't take it personally, she's in love with sonic and thinks alot o hedgehogs look like him."
"Ahh." Shadow just leaned back with his hands behind his back. "Hmph." Well so it might have been an accident. But I felt something from it. He thought to himself.
Shadow took another few puffs of his cigarette and felt a little dizzy. Its been a while since he smoked so that little bit took an affect on him. Knuckles noticed.
"Haha you okay shadow?"
"Eeeeeh yeah man."
Knuckles looked down at his phone, muttering the message rouge sent him.
"Hey shads, rouge is throwing a party tomorrow night wanna go?"
"Yeah I'll try, I can't keep any promises though."
"Its fine" Knuckles paused to send his text saying shadow may come, and then continued talking. "I know them medications probably got u all fucked up don't they?"
"Well I mean they're helping they're just fucking up my sleep"
"Oh, well yeah that's what I meant i didn't mean fuck you up more mentally"
"Eh whatever knuckles."
It was so funny to knuckles, he hadn't seen shadow like that ever and he couldn't beleive it. He took one last puff of his cigarette and threw it to the ground. It was also a long while since they've gotten along like this.
Knuckles leaned back and relaxed with shadow, same position as him, staring at the sunset.
"You know shadow it's been a while since we've done this."
"You know you're actually right. Man I've been missing out on alot."
"Yeah you have been... Man." Knuckles checked his phone and his eyes widened. "Oh shit I gotta go. Hey remember try to be at that party!"
Shadow stood up, arched his back popping it, then stretched. "Mmm aight. I'll see ya." He opened the door to his house and walked inside.
"See ya!" Knuckles said, barely yelling as shadow stepped into his house so that shadow could hear him.
Shadow looked around his living room and noticed his couch.
"I guess I'll sit down for a while... And watch TV maybe."
He dragged himself to the couch. Turned his back to it and plopped down onto the cushions. He relaxed, feeling the soft comforting touch against his quills and aching back. "Mmm". He looked around his living room thinking about how lucky he was to be alive after all. Then afterwords, slightly glancing down at his arm where he brutally attempted to murder himself. He took his hand on the opposite arm and traced over the huge scar softly, as if he were carefully touching a new born baby with sensitive skin, then comfortably gripping it, thinking about the day all of that happened.
"Shadow, I've always wanted to go to earth. It seems so pleasant. I would die to live there."
"Maria?! *Anxiously*"
"Why yes, shadow?"
"You want to go to earth? Maria, I want you to be happy, let me take you to earth! We can leave right now!"
"Shadow. That's not necessary, just because I want to go doesnt-"
"Maria you've talked about it for years, I want you to be happy. Come on, I'll take you right now! *Grip of Maria's hand*
"Shadow are you sure? We don't have to"
"Maria trust me! *Running with her*"
*Security guards see them running and run after them*
"Fuck! Maria come on we can make it!"
"*Panting* uh- uh- okay!"
*they make it maybe 30 more second, thinking they lost them, sill running*
"Come on maria just a little farth-"
*Gun shot*
*Shadow turns around to see maria shot*
"MARIA! YOU SON OF A BITCHES! GOD DAMN YOU ALL!"
*Shadow formed into his dark side, frightening the security guards, some to the point of calling eggman. But shadow, as strong as he is, killed them all off. Blood squirting every direction, heads being twisted off in a split second, and guts being spilled right before their eyes.*
"*Panting heavily* m-maria... MARIA! *looking around, picking up dead bodies to see if she may have been hidden in any of them*"
"*Weak flimsy voice* i-im here shadow..."
"MARIA! *He runs to her and holds her* no... No, this cant be happening."
"*Blood in mouth, covering wound with hand, even though it hardly helps.* Shadow. Please do some thing for me?"
"Anything for you Maria... Anything"
"Please, go to earth for me... And make it a better place. And make other people a better person. Love yourself... For me."
"*Tears roll down the side of his cheek* of-ofcoure. Anything for you Maria... You know this."
"I love you... *Eyes close*"
Shadow began to ball his eyes out. He wanted to go back and change things. Maybe if he would've waited or done it sooner. Maybe if he didn't run or talk so loud about the subject.
"It's all my fucking fault and I have to live with it. Yet you still love me..." He curled himself into a ball and leaned against the couch, letting his salty tears rub against it. This is what I'm gonna have to feel for the rest of my life. I'll never be able to not live with it.

------------The next Day-----------------
The black hedgehog let out a long, wide yawn. Then, barely opening his eyes, noticed he had stayed in the living room the whole night. He didn't remember much of the night. He also noticed he had a game consoles plugged in and turned on along with his TV.
Since when did I have any of those?
He asked himself. He must've forgotten about them from his severe depression. Well, ofcourse now he knew he had them. He got up slowly off the couch and tiredly walked into his kitchen to see what time it was.
"Hm. It's 4 now. I better start getting ready for rouges party I guess."
The black hedgehog walked to his bathroom, and as he walked in locking the door behind him and preparing shower water. Taking off his shoes and gloves.
He looked at himself in the mirror, eyes half closed, noticing his chest hair had gotten a little more fluffy. He petted his chest furr, and then let out a slow sigh.
"Water's probably warm by now." He slid into the shower and stood beneath the running water, letting run through his furr, through his quills and down his back.
This feels wonderful he thought to himself as he started to wash. He loved the feeling of the water, and how clean it made him feel. Oh, how clean he felt, it was so relaxing. He wanted to just lay down in it, so he decided to. He lied on his back letting the water drip down the sides of him. "Mmm".
*Later after his shower*
*Knock on his door*
"Hold on!" Exclaimed shadow as he was cleaning his shoes.
"It's knuckles, shadow. I can to get you!"
Shadow grew a curious face on him. He kept that face on him until he got up and opened the door, face to face with knuckles. "Why did you come to pick me up? I remembered the party-"
"Rouge wants you to be there early, me and you, so that you can meet amy. Because Amy's there too."
Shadow began to be more confused. "Amy?"
Knuckles let out an annoyed sigh and face palmed. "Shadow... The girl i showed you last night? Who was in the picture with rouge?"
Knuckles then seen the light bulb glow in shadow, his eyes widened slightly.
"Oh! The pink hedgehog! Yeah. Well okay I guess."
"Alright well come on I left the car running so that we could leave right away!" Knuckles spoke as he ran to his car, shadow following behind him. Knuckles unlocked the car and sat in the driver's seat along shadow sitting in the passenger.
"Don't mind the mess" knuckles said picking up a fast food bag and throwing it to the back of the car. "I had the munchies today."
"More like the 'starvies'" shadow replied smartly.
"Eh you know what I mean." Knuckles put the key in and started the car, the loud rumble of the engine sounded along with faintly volumed music. Knuckles turned to road and drove fastly eager to get to the party.
"So why do you think I should meet amy so badly, You and rouge?"
"Well" knuckles began. "First of all. You have met her but, it was an accident. So we figured you should meet each other intentionally."
Oh great. Lovely shadow thought sarcastically.
"Second of all. She said she caught sonic cheating on her yesterday."
Shadows sarcasm thoughts and non excitement thoughts completely emptied from hearing that.
"Sonic? Cheating? The hell?"
Knuckles nodded. "Yep, I never knew he was like that either. But Amy said he did so I guess it's plausible. We could find out tonight, you never know cause rouge said he was gonna be there."
"Oh my god." Shadow couldn't beleive it. That wasn't sonic. "Well I guess we WILL just have to find out. Fuck."
"You know, it's also been a while since you've been to a party."
Shadow smirked then looked out the window. "Hmph. Yeah."

HI GUYS it's Katie (the author of this story) I'm sorry I stopped part three right there before they were about to go to the party and I'm sorry it took me so long to do part three. I promise I'll have part 4 out soon. >_< heh.
