I pat my skirt for what feels like the 30th time since I put it on, it never helps calm my heartbeat. I look out the window to see the baby blue convertible pull up outside. Just like every day. I quickly grab my bag as I take a last look at myself in the hall mirror. I tuck a strand of hair from my face, take a quick breath, and open the door.
I put on a smile, and walk lightly bouncing down the steps. Never feeling morenout of place and less like myself. I walk up and open the door gently, just like every other day. I turn and my smile towards Anna. She smiles back but her's really reaches her eyes. She's so sure of who she is and where she's going.
I look down as my fingers tangle in my lap, ringlets of dark hair falling into view. My stomach aches slightly more than it did in the house. I'm finding myself to be impatiently waiting to get out of this car.
_________________________________________We pull up to a spot, a tall, broad shouldered boy standing off to the side, and all too regular sight. He opens the door for her and takes her hand leaving me alone in the car. People think it's cute, but it gets boring when it happens every day, there's no surprise or thrill to be found in the event of our morning routine. It's cliché, like everything to do with us. I can't not roll my eyes, but I've mastered them not seeing it. As per usual I take them making out as my que to leave, gladly.
I find my way up to my locker, and open my bag, I slip in my books and check my little mirror. I check my watch. 1...2...3...I turn and...he isn't there. The only thing out of the usual. Until suddenly he runs up, back to the routine.
"Hey Aqua, how's it going?" He asks, leaning on the locker beside mine. I smirk, and turn back to my locker as if I hadn't been waiting.
"You mean, since last night, when we last talked?"
"Ah yes. Of course."
"Well Izaac, if you must know I-"
The reflection in my mirror stops my words cold. I see Felix walking this direction. I turn completely to see it for myself, and press back into my locker lightly as he walks past. But he turns and waves at me, followed by him continuing to walk. Everyday. I close my eyes tightly, bite my lip quickly and turn back around. I stick my head in my locker, frustration hopefully being left behind. I know Izaac is still there, he's just that kind of friend, he's waiting silently, lettting me do what I always do.
"Well I finished my homework, organizationed and rewrote my notes. And then I had a shower and went to bed." I mumble from inside the locker.
He sighs, followed by a small laugh. Your life is constantly riveting Aqua, however can I keep up with you." He exclaims, grabbing my bag from my shoulder and pulling it over his own. Fantastic. Today is gonna be fantastic.
_________________________________________I drop my bag to the floor, my eyes following it. I can't let it just sit there. So I pick it up and hang it on the railing. I sigh. I kick off my shoes, but I can't leave them like that either, so I walk over and pick them up too. I walk with them up to my room, slowly, overcalculating each step. I'm done, my head is spinning. I hate this pattern, it just causes my mood to switch constantly, I don't feel alive in my body. All my days are the same, but never in a good way.
I walk into my closet, and I lay against the wall, touching my head to the cool paint that is never touched. i glance around the small space and slip on the only pair of jeans that I own. I fumble around a bit until I find something red, something to fall off my shoulders.
This won't work indefinitely but jt will work for a trip to find a permanent solution.
