I walk into school. I got suspended my first fucking day of senior year and I've missed a lot. I hardly remember where any of my classes are.
It's going to be my goal to ignore two braids. Only because it's his fault that I'm already failing the school year. I wanted to graduate with honors and so far that's not going good. All because of two braids.

I tie up my sk8 high black vans and as I rise up I see a pair of the same vans step in front of me. And I roll my eyes.

"You can't ignore me forever." He says. I turn my heel, walking the other way. I walk fast in between folks so he couldn't follow me. I end up going to my first block early. All my teaches knew of my condition, so they didn't really try to have conversation.

This day has been boring. As always. But instead of going home I end up going to Starbucks. I walk in, with my headphones in my ear. I walk up to the register and no one is there. I tap the counter loudly and two braids comes from the back, looking at me.

"Hmm. I'm starting to see you everywhere, girl." He smiles. I cross my arms.

"Can I have a grande vanilla bean latte?" I sign. He reads my hands and types in my order.

"5.78" he says and I swipe my card, entering my pin.

He goes to the back and makes my drink. He finishes and hands it to me. I take the drink and go sit in the back. I drink my drink silently and take a picture of it, uploading it to snapchat.

"I know you don't like me and all, but I really need to know more about you. Your so... Interesting to me." Two braids says, sitting across from me. I look him in his milk chocolate brown eyes and sigh silently.

"I'm mute. I learned to sign at a young age because I never spoke. The doctors tried but I just didn't wanna speak I guess. My name is Tiffani. You're first person I've met who can read sign language other than my family." I sign to him. For some reason it feels like I can trust him all of a sudden. I know my business won't leave our conversation.

"Yeah, my mothers deaf. So of course I can read sign language, you know. Tiffani is a pretty name. I'm Rayan. You can call me Ray. I moved here from LA. I'm 19 years old, I'm a fun, energetic person, I guess. Tell me more about yourself, Tiffani."

"I'm a boring person," I sign, "I don't speak as you can see, lm not funny, I'm not outgoing, I don't have friends at all..." I look away. Ray touches my hands and I frown slightly and look at him.

"There's gotta be some good in you, and I'll be the one who brings it out." My frown turns into a slight smirk and I blush a little, looking away.

Maybe Rayan isn't all that bad.
