My eyes shoot open in alarm as my breath catches. I inhale big deep breathes, trying to calm my racing heart beat. I take in my surroundings, where the hell am I? I blink once, I blink twice. Maybe I should move. My bones ached and my muscles throbbed as I attempted to move my limbs. I feel all sweaty and nasty and my clothes are matted to my body from blood. Whose blood is it? Is it mine? Is it someone else's? I can't seem to remember what had happened or how I got into this situation.
I was about to attempt another shift of movement, until I heard footsteps making their way over to me. In a faded and blurry vision, I see a tall figure dressed in all black with a knife in hand coming towards me.
I started to get antsy, oh no. Is this guy the reason I'm in so much pain right now? If he is, then I should defend myself. The closer he approaches, the more tense I get. I began lifting my arms, ready to defend myself no matter how much it hurt to do so.
"Kas." The guy says. He knows my name? I blink at him and give him an inquisitive look. The guy who certainly looks familiar now carries a concerned expression.
"Kas, are you okay? You blacked out for a moment. Don't worry, I killed that dead beat." He says. This guy killed someone?
I thought hard about this. Why would he kill someone he probably doesn't know? It took me a while to figure it out. And then it clicked. The guy in front of me is Carlos, the head leader of our mafia. And some of us were out on a special little "mission" to get something back that we owned from what we call a runt. The runts are people we hire to do small things like buy us stuff or something like that. Nothing big. But one of our runts-Felix-decided to "rebel" and steal lots of money. Precisely two grand. So four of use went out and hunted him down and now here we are in a dark alley with his corpse.
"Kas? Snap out of it. Are you fine? Do you remember anything? Felix knocked you out pretty hard." Carlos says, interrupting my thoughts. I look up and meet him in his hazel eyes and glare.
"I'm fine. Will you stop treating me like a fucking baby? Stop worrying about me and worry about the corpse." I snap, getting up despite the aching pain that corrupts all throughout my body.
Carlos shakes his head as he shrugs. We meet up in the center of the alley where the other two, Maria and Arrenio, are looming over Felix.
"Are you two done having your love fest?" Maria sneers, looking at us. I shoot a glare at her, even if it's too dark out to see.
I'm not a dating type. I don't date anyone. That's just not the lifestyle that I'm in and I don't got time for that. Carlos and I are just having sex, that's it. Nothing else. We just have a physical attraction to each other but no feelings attached. So it's not dating and I hate it when Maria keeps mentioning things like that out loud.
"Shut the fuck up." I mutter. I can tell Maria is rolling her eyes at the moment but she shakes it off.
"All right girls, stop shitting around and actually do something helpful. Like getting rid of the body." Carlos orders.
"What are we gonna do with the body? There's no garbage can." Arrenio steps in, turning his flashlight on.
"What the hell are you doing? Turn that thing off, you're gonna give us away with that thing." I hiss. Arrenio turns the flashlight off and shoves it in his pocket.
"There's a river not too far behind this building, so we can carry the body the whole distance and dump it." Carlos explains.
"Won't anyone see us?" Arrenio asks.
