Chapter 1- Tim's pov
________________
There was a knock at my front door. I threw my remote down on the couch next to my place and walked up to it only to see through the distorted glass my best friend, Aj.
"Hey," she greeted me as I smiled toward her. "Hey!" i greeted back as stepped aside for her to enter.
"It's... quiet" Aj looked around weirdly. "Where is everyone?" she finished.
"Dad's off helping Rose find a house, she has to move out" I frowned.
"Oh," she sat down next to my place on the couch and her attention was thrown toward the TV.
I soon slumped down next to her.
"So, how have you been doing?" She asked with a serious tone. She knew that I was constantly upset every time she brought it up, but when she asked I felt like she cared, and I liked that feeling.
"Fine. I guess" I shrugged a bit. "I'm sorry I asked," she brought me into a comforting hug and I felt like I was about to break down. "You're fine." I hugged her back greatly.
I did have one or two tears slip and Aj noticed.
"Hey, Tim it's okay" she grabbed my hands as if she were a Kindergarten nurse announcing that the small 'boo-boo' was just a small scrape that would surly be gone in a matter of time, but this is no small scrape to me. And I knew it wasn't for Aj either, and she wasn't even related to my mother.
She squeezed my hands a little tighter. "Everything will work out, this is not where this ends," her smiled was fortunate like she wasn't going down without everything working out. But I still felt like nothing was going right in my mind.
"You're right." I lied but Aj kept her smile and her hands place in mine tightly. She then winked and let go of my hands.
After she let go the front door opened from the other room. "We're back!" Aj and I heard as my teenage sister, Rosalyn, and my father walked into the living room to see us.
"Hey, Mr. Bergling, Rose" Aj smiled at then and Rose smiled back, but my father kept his normal calm face.
He didn't hate Aj, he just shows his normal actions, slightly slumped position and straight yet comforting face, toward everyone. Even my other friends, Anton and Porter.
"Well, I probably should get going now, I'm sorry Tim." Aj waved and got up. We did our thing, which was a bro fist like thing, and she walked out of the room toward the door.
There was an awkward silence and I could hear Aj's car outside start up and drive away.
My father grabbed a news paper from this morning and sighed as he saw the latest headline.
'Michelle Bergling: Still Missing'
I left the room quietly before I had to see him break out into tears, he didn't mind it either. He was strong enough to cry when he needed to, yet so was I, I guess.
"Tim, you okay?" Rose stopped me in the hallway, noticing a few of my dried tears I shed when Aj was here. "Fine, why do you ask?" I shrugged and tried to chuckle, but failed to do so.
"Becuase, I can see your face, Tim, are you okay?" She asked again, this time expecting the truth from me.
"No, but it was only a few tears!" I whined. Rose's arms wrapped around me as she led me to her room to sit down. She sat me down on her bed next to her and I could feel another one of her 'sister-to-brother discussions'.
"It doesn't matter how many tears. You cried, didn't you?" She looked at and she was serious at this time, same she always was when she had discussed this with me many times before this.
"Yes, I did" I sniffled a bit and felt small with her arms around me. "Now, I don't plan on making this worse, but is it... mom?" She asked, looking me straight in the eyes waiting for my reply.
I gave her nothing but complete silence, but not to be rude, because I wasn't sure how to reply without completly shutting down and getting myself sick like the many times before having discussions with Rose.
"Is it...?" She asked again.
"Yes, it was" I finally let out, tears forming and stinging my eyes, just wanting to escape.
"I don't know how to put this in a way you wouldn't be worse..." she mumbled, not intending for me to hear but I did.
"Mother is... gone. We all know that by now. Now you and dad can not cry about it your whole life, Tim. You need to gain something, not loose it all. And don't take this wring way, I miss her too, but we can't sob all the time, we have to just forgive and forget, not about mom, but that she's gone. Do you understand?" I barely listened over my loud sobs, matching dad's from the other room, but I nodded in reply anyway.
"Now, Tim, why don't we all just go do something fun tonight, just you and I? Would that make you feel better?" She offered toward me, hoping for a direct yes, but I wasn't sure.
"I-I don't know," I stuttered. "Sure..."
"If you feel uncomfortable with the idea, how about we invite your friend... Aj?" I felt more comfortable automatically and my head nodded.
"Great, I'll call her, you go get ready, and wipe your eyes" She smiled at me and patted my back for me to get up.
"Hey, Rose," I started before leaving her room completely. "Yeah?" She called back. "Thank you." I smile and walked off to my room.
