Lacey 2020
I'm sitting on the couch, enjoying the company of my family. It's family night at Mom's house, so everyone here: Damien and his husband, Duncan, their son Anthony, Luke and his girlfriend Rachel (he is truly considering marriage), my husband, and Mom, of course.
I take a sip of water when Anthony runs up to me and pokes my belly. "So, my baby cousin is in there?" He asked his little lisp coming through with his 'R's'. I nod.
"Yep, and he or she will be coming out very soon," I whisper to him. His eyes grow wide with excitement, and I smile at the expression on his little face.
"Okay," Mom announces, getting everyone's attention instantly. "We are ready for charades. Who's first?"
"Rachel and I," Luke jumps up.
"Boo!" Damien and I call, cause Luke wins just about every charades game.
"You two should get better, then you would have no problem with me going first," he shots chuckling. I stick my tongue out at him.
"Set the timer, Duncan," Mom orders, and he happily complies. "1 minute on the clock. Luke pick up a piece of paper out of the hat and begin."
Luke instantly gets serious, he walks up to the table, pulls out the slip, and immediately gets to work acting out the movie. Based on his movements Rachel calls, "two words." He nods. "First word." He acts like he is killing himself. "Die," she screams, and he smiles. "Die Hard!" And he runs over to pick her up.
"What did I miss?" Easton asks, sitting beside me on the couch, pulling my legs onto his lap.
"Just Luke and Rachel schooling us on charades," I reply.
He shakes his head, "We're next!" He calls. He walks up and grabs a slip of paper. He smiles a the movie he got before placing it into the butt pocket of his jeans.
He holds up three fingers to me, "Three words." He nods. Then he points Mom and to him. "Mother in Law?" He shakes his head and emphasizes the point on him. "Son in Law?" He nods.
"That's my girl!" Easton shouts, walking over and planting a chaste kiss on my lips, before sitting beside me again.
"I haven't seen that movie in ages. Nice job, Mom," I smile over at her.
"That was an easy one," Luke complained.
"Don't whine, Luke. It looks bad," Damien chuckled.
"Leave Luke alone," Duncan tried.
"Thank you, Duncan. I've always liked you," Luke smiled brightly at him. Rachel started laughing. Duncan tried not to laugh but failed miserably. Easton just sat back watching my brothers with the same amused and content smile I seem to always see on his face when he is around my family.
"You alright?" I whisper in his ear.
He turns to me and smiles, "I couldn't be happier. I love you, Lacey."
"I love you too," I say back and smile spreading across my face.
"Okay, no making out on the couch!" Luke called, and I throw a pillow at his face.
Then, I felt something strange in my body. It's like a cramp, but very dull. Shit. Could I be...
Damien and Duncan were in the middle of their round when I looked to Easton with wide eyes. "I think the baby is coming," I tried to say calmly.
"Really?" He asked excited, but his face became just slightly pale.
I nod, and as though giving me proof, my water broke.
