The drive home is all but nice. Svetlana managed to get her hands on a shitty car that was barely holding itself together. Every bump woke Yev as he fought a loosing battle with sleep and sent me flying through the fucking windshield. Not only that but Svet is a terrible driver.

"Fuck me, back up psycho I can almost hear the conversation going in there." I say as my head nods over to the car in front of us.

"You not happy with how I drive? You walk." Her thick Russian accent and short sentences were something that I can happily say I did not miss.

"Yeah, yeah whatever." I mumble in response which earns me an angry and irritated glare from Svet.

I lean my head against the window but quickly realise that it was a bad idea as my head begins to vibrate against the cold glass. Heavily sighing, I run my fingers through my unwashed hair and instead use my arm as a head rest to gaze out of the window.

"So now you're back you start to earn again, yes? I take Yevgeny to the shop with me when we get to the house and you go mee-".

My eyes widen when I see it, the baseball field where Ian and I had hooked up countless times. It used to be our place in the early days, I guess to some standard it still was in the later days of our relationship but definitely not anymore. Ian made that pretty clear. Despite how it may have come across, I didn't just meet him there to fuck (although that was a bonus), it was one of the places where we would be alone and talk for hours on end. The place where I realised that I really did love him.

We were sat back against the wired fencing, no beers, no cigarettes, just us. He leant over placing his hand across my body, gave me a quick kiss, then lay back with his arms under his head. I envied him for being so sure of who he was and who he wanted to be. Pretty soon he would be off to the army and I would just be left behind.

It seemed so unfair that he could introduce me to all this and then run off and leave me. Leave me fighting to get even a twinge when looking at a girl, something that had never been a problem before meeting Ian. Of course, this was something I would never admit to him.

"Do you think it will always be like this?" He turned his head toward me and the small freckles on his face screamed out under the intense light from above, shit I never knew freckles could be so attractive.

"Probably." I replied avoiding eye contact, still too afraid to give away my real answer which would've been along the lines of, "I really hope not.".

Ian sighed and repositioned himself so that his head was now lying just above my crotch, probably not the best place. He grabbed my hand in his and placed it in his hair. I obliged and started running my finger tips up and down his orange scalp, savouring ever moment. Ian busied himself by playing with the fingers on my free hand. My skin felt the electricity left behind with every touch his fingertips traced.

He drew swirls along with other random shit and then glided one finger over the bumps of my knuckles staring fixated as if my hand were the most interesting thing in the world which made my heart tug in my chest. I guess I stared at him thinking the exact same thing.

We sat this way for over 10 minutes in silence before he got up and sat in my lap so that his eyes poured into mine. He leant in slowly to initiate a kiss, which ignited every nerve in my body. Afterwards, his arms flung around my neck and his head slowly turned until his mouth was pressed to my ear sending shivers and goosebumps through my body.

"I really hope not." He whispered, referring to our last conversation.

A punch on the arm stirs me from my past memories and drags me unwillingly back to the present.

"What the fuck Svet." I snap and glare at her through furrowed eyebrows.

"What did I just say?" She questions and I reply wordlessly with a blank look as I rub my arm in the spot that she just hit.

She grunts and gets out of the car. We're here already? I glance at the backseat to find a passed out Yevgeny drooling all over the stained car seat that Svetlana must have picked up from a strangers backyard. I shake my head and begin to unstrap Yevgeny to carry him inside.

"This car seat looks like its had more STI's than you have, I must say its a pretty impressive find." I shout at Svetlana as she climbs up to the house.
